WHAT’S HAPPENING
Tonight, there will be a special ceremonial puck drop as the Heart & Stroke Foundation will announce the amount of money raised during the month of February. It’s also our second last Better Together Tuesday as we encourage fans to wear their better together t-shirts at the game tonight!
We’ve got a fun Tuesday night planned for you! In the first intermission, we will have sling shot bowling, and in the second intermission we will have Brandt Call Your Shot! Also stay tuned throughout the game for more interactive games, and contests, including The Keg Kiss Cam!
GAME PREVIEW
The Regina Pats take on the Saskatoon Blades in the fifth of six meetings this season. Regina is 1-2-1-0 against the Blades this season. Caden Brown (2G-1A) and Zach Moore (2G-1A) each have three points against the Blades this season. Tyler Parr leads the season series with five points (2G-3A) versus the Pats, while Grayden Siepmann has four assists.
The Pats are coming off a tough 7-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday, dropping their sixth straight contest. The Pats only goal came from Zach Moore in the second period which brought Regina within one early in the frame. The final shots were 24-22 for the Warriors. The Pats were 1-2 on their power play while the Warriors were 2-4 on their power play.
Kelton Pyne and Ewan Huet split the action between the pipes. Pyne was yanked after giving up three goals on 12 shots while Ewan Huet gave up four goals on 12 shots in relief.
Meanwhile, the Blades have won their last two games, picking up victories over the Prince Albert Raiders over the weekend. The Blades were last in action on Saturday, defeating the Raiders 4-1 at the SaskTel Centre.
Hunter Laing scored twice, while Cooper Williams and Tyler Parr added singles in front of a 43 save performance from goaltender Ethan McCallum. Prince Albert outshot Saskatoon 44-40. The Raiders were 1-3 on their power play and 3-5 on their penalty kill.
WHO TO WATCH
Zach Moore has scored in each of his last three games, with three goals during that time. He now has a career-high 13 goals and 21 points this season. In addition, Matt Paranych has recorded a point in three straight contests, with four points during that stretch (1G-3A).
Hunter Laing was named the WHL’s Player of the Week on Monday, recording four goals and one assist in two games, as the Blades won both games versus the Prince Albert Raiders. The Calgary Flames prospect now has goals in three straight games (5G-1A), and a career-high 23 goals and 40 points in 57 games.
COMING UP
The Regina Pats will take on the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday, March 15 at the Brandt Centre before traveling to Saskatoon to take on the Blades at the SaskTel Centre on Sunday, March 16 at 4pm. The Pats will then play their final two games of the season with a home-and-home against the Brandon Wheat Kings
