PREVIEW
The Regina Pats wrap up their two-week, six-game U.S. road trip on Saturday night, taking on the Wenatchee Wild for the one and only time this season.
Regina’s final stop comes at the Town Toyota Center as the Pats continue their search for a first victory on the trip. The club enters short-handed once again, coming off a tough 7–2 loss to the Portland Winterhawks on Friday night in which Regina dressed just nine forwards and seven defencemen due to injuries to Caden Brown, Keets Fawcett, Zach Moore, and Cohen Klassen.
The road trip began with three narrow defeats — a 3–2 loss to Spokane, a 2–1 setback in Tri-City, and a 5–3 loss in Seattle — before the results widened over the past week. Regina has surrendered 15 goals over its last two games, including an 8–3 loss on Wednesday followed by Friday’s defeat in Portland.
Despite the challenges, there have been encouraging performances. In Portland, goaltender Marek Schlenker turned aside shots all night, facing a career-high 52 in his first game against his former club since being dealt. Offensively, Liam Pue scored his first goal since Sept. 19, while Ruslan Karimov found the net for his fourth of the season and second of the road trip.
The 15-year-old Pue continues to be a bright spot in the Pats’ lineup, stepping into a larger role and providing energy and timely production while the team navigates injuries to several key contributors.
The Wild enter Saturday’s matchup looking to bounce back from a 3–0 home loss to the Prince George Cougars on Friday. The defeat snapped Wenatchee’s four-game home winning streak. At 7-13-1-1 on the season, the Wild have 16 points and currently sit last in the Western Hockey League standings. While Wenatchee has struggled away from home with a 1-8-1 road record, the Wild have been far more competitive on home ice, posting a 6-5-1 mark at the Town Toyota Center.
Saturday’s matchup is a rare meeting between the two clubs. Since the Wild relocated from Winnipeg to Wenatchee in the summer of 2023, the teams have only met twice. The Pats last visited Wenatchee on Feb. 29, 2024, falling 6–3 in their first-ever meeting, but bounced back with a 4–2 win on Feb. 7, 2025.
With the final game of the trip ahead and adversity continuing to test the lineup, the Pats will look to finish their U.S. swing on a positive note before heading home.
COMING UP
The Regina Pats travel back to the Queen City and prepare for their final four games before the Christmas Break. The Pats are back home on December 5 where they take on the Brandon What Kings.
