PREVIEW: Pats Begin Four Game Homestand With Cancer Awareness Game
Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats begin their four game homestand tonight as they host the Saskatoon Blades at 7pm inside the Brandt Centre for the Pats annual Cancer Awareness Game.
The Pats enter tonight’s contest with a 7-5-1 record and 15 points, while the Blades come into tonight’s action with a 8-3-0 record and 16 points.

ABOUT TONIGHT’S CANCER AWARENESS GAME
The Pats and 22Fresh have have designed 2023 Cancer Awareness Night jerseys which will be worn tonight against the Blades. All the player jerseys will be auctioned online at https://www.32auctions.com/23PatsCancerAwareness, with Net proceeds from this auction going to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. The auction will end at 8 p.m., tonight.
Additionally, the Pats and 22Fresh have partnered on limited edition merchandise. The themed t-shirts and hoodies are on sale in-store only at the Pats Store and in the store at 22Fresh.
Friday’s game will also include a new feature which is our “I Fight For” wall located across from the Pats Store where all fans will have the chance to honour a loved one affected by cancer.
There will also be a 22Fresh pop-up tent setup above Section 114 during Saturday’s game that will be selling limited quantities of the themed merchandise.
This game will be the 15th Cancer Awareness game for the Pats. Over the last 14 years, the hockey club has raised more than $130,000 in the fight against cancer.
PREVIEW
The Pats look to snap their two game losing-streak tonight against the Blades, as the Pats are coming off a 2-1 loss to the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday. Zackary Shantz scored Regina’s lone goal, making it a one-goal game late in the third period. Two Pats goals were called back after further review in game. The final shots were 24-20 for the Pats. The Pats went a perfect 6-6 on the penalty kill and 0-3 on their power play.
Regina comes into tonight’s action with a 5-1-1 home record this season. The Pats are winners of four straight games at home, and have a streak of points in five straight home games (5-0-1).
Meanwhile, the Saskatoon Blades had their six game winning-streak come to a close on Tuesday following a 3-1 home loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Blades only goal came from Egor Sidorov who scored for a fourth straight contest. The final shots were 33-28 for the Blades. Saskatoon went 0-3 on their power play and 2-3 on their penalty kill.
The Blades have won their last three road games coming into tonight’s game, and are 4-2-0 on the road this season.

Today will be the third of eight meetings this season between the Pats and Blades, with the season series tied at one apiece. Last season, the Blades went 4-2 in six matchups, outscoring the Pats 23-to-18 in those contests. On the flip side, the Pats went 2-2 in the second-half of the season against the Blades, outscoring them 15-14 over those last four contests. Regina and Saskatoon played in the post-season for the first time since 2006.

COMING UP
The Regina Pats continue their four game homestand with the third game of it on Sunday against the Prince George Cougars at 4pm. It will be the first matchup against the Cougars since Dec. 2, 2022 when the Pats won 5-1 on the road. The Cougars were last in Regina on Jan. 8, 2020, where the Pats won 5-4 in a shootout.
