PREVIEW
The Regina Pats are on the upward trend, picking up points in four straight games (2-0-2) thanks to an impressive 7-3 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday at Westoba Place.
14 players gathered at least a point for the Regiment, with five Pats players recording multi-point games. Caden Brown registered his fourth career multi-goal game with a two goal effort, while Tye Spencer chipped in with a goal and an assist. Cameron Kuzma, Keets Fawcett and Zackary Shantz each recorded multi-assist contests, and Kelton Pyne made 24 saves for his eighth win of the season. The final shots were 38-27 for the Pats. Regina was 0-4 on their power play and 2-2 on their penalty kill.
The Pats were a goal shy of their season high of eight set back on October 19 vs. Seattle (8-0 W). The Pats also improved to 2-0-1 in games at Westoba Place this season. The Pats magic number continues to be the 4+ goal mark as the Pats improved to 7-1-1 when scoring four or more goals this season.
On the other side, the Saskatoon Blades broke their six game skid (0-4-1-1) with a 5-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Brandon Lisowsky led the way with three points (2G-1A) while Rowan Calvert (1G-1A), Ben Riche (1G-1A), Tyler Parr (2A) and Grayden Siepmann (2A) chipped in with multi-point games. Evan Gardner made 28 saves in the victory. The final shots were 30-27 for Moose Jaw. The Blades were 2-3 on their power play and 2-3 on their penalty kill.
WHO TO WATCH
There are a handful of players who have been hot for the Pats as of late. Caden Brown has scored in his last three games (4G) after a two goal effort on Friday in Brandon, and Jace Egland has picked up a point in three straight contests (1G-2A). In addition, Tye Spencer has points in back-to-back games and four points in his last four games (1G-3A). Zackary Shantz has also recorded nine points (2G-7A) in his last seven games.
For the Blades, Brandon Lisowsky hit the 20 goal mark on Friday, becoming the 12th player in the WHL to do so this season. The 20-year-old Toronto Maple Leafs prospect is riding a 10 game point-streak with 18 points (10G-8A) during that time.
