Regina, Sask. – The Regina Pats raised $13,025 to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan through the Pats jersey auction in Friday’s 16th annual Cancer Awareness Night.
In partnership with 22Fresh, the Pats teamed up with the Medicine Hat Tigers, and wore cancer themed jerseys for games on October 26 at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat and on November 1 at the Brandt Centre. Over the last 16 years, the hockey club has now raised more than $140,000 in the fight against cancer.
The highest bidding jersey was Tye Spencer’s sweater, which went for $2,025. The next closest was Tanner Howe’s jersey ($1,000) and Anthony Wilson’s ($1,000), followed by Jaxsin Vaughan’s ($875), Corbin Vaughan’s ($850) and Connor Bear’s ($525).
“I am incredibly proud of the overwhelming support we received during our Cancer Awareness Game and the success of our cancer jersey auction,” Regina Pats CEO Gordon Pritchard said. “Together, we’ve not only raised vital funds for cancer research and support, but also fostered a sense of hope and solidarity in our community. Each bid placed on those jerseys represents a commitment to fighting this disease and supporting those affected by it. Thank you to our dedicated fans, sponsors, and everyone who participated; your generosity makes a profound difference in the lives of many.”
This is the first of four online jersey auctions the Pats will be doing this season, all of which will see money raised for different charitable causes. The next one will be RE/MAX Nickelodeon Night on December 28 followed by Indigenous Celebration Night (Feb. 7) and Your Team, Your Jersey (Mar. 1).
More details on the next Pats online jersey auction will be made public in the future.
