Today, we will provide an update on unsigned drafted players prior to the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, as well as listed players.
Shaan Basran | 2008 F | Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA
Basran, 17, tallied 42 points (19G-23A) in 42 games with the Blazers during the 2024-25 season, which was tied for third on his team in scoring. The Saskatoon, Sask. product split time between the Blazers and Saskatoon Riverkings U18 AA last season, compiling a combined 30 points (8G-22A) in 44 games. The 5-foot-11, 150 lb. right-shot forward was listed by the Pats during the 2024-25 season.
“I watched him play in the playoffs and I really liked his game. I went in going to watch to see if anyone stood out and he did. He played a really good 200-foot game, worked hard, was on the right side of the puck and was good defensively. He also adds some offence and can make plays. I was impressed with his play so that was nice to see.” – Regina Pats Asst. GM Dale Derkatch

Shea Rollason | 2008 F | Winnipeg Bruins U18 AAA
Rollason, 16, led the Bruins in goals, assists and points in 2024-25, recording 66 points (29G-37A) in 47 games. The Winnipeg, Man. product ranked eighth in league scoring and tied for eighth in goals. The 6-foot, 183 lb. right-shot forward was acquired by the Pats from the Everett Silvertips on January 9.
“Shea is a bigger body guy, and sometimes I walk away from games and say this guy is a hockey player, and that’s what we saw in Shea. He plays the right way and is really competitive. He’s a right-winger that goes to the net hard. He’s hard on the forecheck and has good touch, and a good shot. I saw him in the playoffs this year and he was a driver for his team in a really hard series in the Winnipeg U18 loop. He’s another guy who we’re pleased to add to our prospect pool, and another guy who we think has a good chance to play for us in the fall.” – Regina Pats GM Alan Millar
Zac Zimmerman | 2008 F | Moorhead High
Zimmerman, 16, recorded 78 points (32G-46A) in 31 games with Moorhead High in the 2024-25 season, which was second on his team and sixth in league scoring. The 5-foot-11, 181 lb. right-shot forward also played for Moorhead High in the 2023-24 season, compiling 44 points (15G-29A) in 27 games. The Fargo, ND product was listed by the Pats during the 2024-25 season.
“Zac was a really good list by our new Minnesota scout Ryan Rintoul who has been doing a lot of good work down there since the NCAA rule change. Zac had a really successful high school career in Minnesota and is a skilled player, really good skater and plays the game the right way. This is part of the new landscape in terms of listing a player. He has interest in playing in the league and will be at our development camp in May. He’s another guy who will come in as a 17-year-old and have a chance to play on our team next season.” – Regina Pats GM Alan Millar
Carter Haney | 2008 F | RINK HA Winnipeg U18 Prep
Haney, 17, was fourth on his team in scoring, picking up 47 points (18G-29A) in 36 games. The Winnipeg, Man. product played for the RINK HA Winnipeg U17 Prep team in 2023-24, totaling 48 points (24G-24A) in 30 games. The 5-foot-10, 176 lb. right-shot forward was drafted by the Pats in the sixth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
“What we like about Carter is that his best attribute is his hockey sense. The puck seems to follow him, he has a nose for the net, can make good plays and reads the game well. He’s another guy who through our process has made an impression on our group. He’s another prospect who is going to compete for a spot on our team. You can get a sense on how competitive camp will be. We have as many as 12 returning forwards, and we’re talking about all these players who will be competing for spots. It’s an exciting step for our group.” – Regina Pats GM Alan Millar
