SIGNED PROSPECTS (Pt. 1 – 2022 & 2023 Draft)
Taylor Tabashniuk | 2007 G | Regina Pat Canadians U18 AAA
Tabashniuk, who turned 18 in March, completed his third and final season with the Pat Canadians in 2024-25, going 19-4-0 with a 2.98 G.A.A and .894 SV% with one shutout. The Regina, Sask. product helped the Pat C’s to a provincial championship, and Western Canada Championship. In the Sask. U18 Playoffs, the 6-foot, 181 lb. goaltender went 8-1-0 with a 1.67 G.A.A and .939 SV% with one shutout. At Westerns, Tabashniuk went 3-0 with a 0.67 G.A.A and .976 SV%.
Tabashniuk continued his success at the 2025 Telus Cup in Chilliwack, helping the Regina Pat Canadians to their first National Championship since 1999 where he posted a 1.20 G.A.A and .951 SV% with one shutout. Tabashniuk was acquired by the Pats from the Red Deer Rebels for a seventh-round pick in 2026 on January 8.
“He was obviously with Red Deer to start, then got sent to Melville (SJHL), and I’m not sure why that didn’t work out but he got sent to the Pat Canadians. His confidence might have not been that high when he got sent back but he played himself into being one of the top goalies in U18 AAA, and probably in Canada numbers wise. He had a really good year. He plays a solid calm game. I think he brings a good work ethic to practice and in games. I think he gives his team a good feeling of confidence when he’s in net. He tracks the puck really well, doesn’t give up on pucks and always battles. He’s not only good on the first shot, but the second and third. I’m looking for big things from Taylor moving forward.” – Regina Pats Asst. GM Dale Derkatch
Jett Deschamps | 2008 D | RINK HA Winnipeg U18 Prep
Deschamps, 16, tallied 30 points (6G-24A) in 36 games this past season, which led all defencemen on his team in scoring. The Headingley, Man. product was a CSSHL U17 All-Star in 2023-24, recording 20 points (3G-17A) in 30 games. The 5-foot-7, 121 lb. left-shot defenceman was drafted by the Pats in the fifth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
“I saw him a few times this year so that was good. He’s not so small anymore, he’s grown. You can see that he’s stretched up a bit. He still has some really big attributes in terms of skating and moving the puck. He now seems to have more confidence with the physical play because he’s grown. The things he needs to work on are maybe being a little more assertive in his own end, in front of the net and in the corners. It looks like he’s coming along pretty good.” – Regina Pats Asst. GM Dale Derkatch
Fenton Mann | 2008 D | Winnipeg Blues
Mann, 17, completed his first season of junior hockey with the MJHL’s Winnipeg Blues where the Winnipeg, Man. product tallied five points (2G-3A) in 52 games. The 6-foot-2, 185 lb. left-shot defenceman was a called up for one game with the Pats, making his WHL debut on March 21 at Brandon. Mann was previously drafted in the seventh round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.
“I saw Fenton a few times this year. The best part about Fenton is that he knows his game and plays within his skillset. He knows he’s a big, physical stay-at-home defenceman that has to make a good first pass and be hard to play against. He does just that. He’s come along really well. It was nice to see him play in a level that challenged him this year.” – Regina Pats Asst. GM Dale Derkatch
