Another Big Second Period Powers Pats Win

First Period
The Pats and Warriors final contest at the Brandt Centre this season started with a bang when Dyson Stevenson and Tanner Eberle dropped the gloves thirteen seconds in.  It was a busy first minute as Braden Christoffer was sent to the box and the Warriors jumped on the chance.  Brayden Point’s shot was tipped by former Pat Jack Rodewald and into the goal for an early Moose Jaw lead.  The Blue and White came back quickly with plenty of chances, but would hit the post three times in the frame.  The Warriors had plenty of powerplay time with two five-on-three chances following their powerplay goal, but the Pats got through the kills, going 4/5 on the penalty kill in the frame.  Special teams factored in again when on the powerplay, Boston Leier’s shot missed the net and skipped off the backboards.  Dyson Stevenson got a piece of the puck and directed it off goaltender Justin Paulic and to the back of the net to tie the game 1-1 and it would stay that way through the first twenty.

Second Period
The deadlock persisted until after the midway point of the period when Kyle Burroughs let a wrist shot go that found its way past the crowd and Paulic to give the Pats the 2-1 lead.  Six minutes later, a great solo effort from Colby Williams added some insurance when he made a great move to get to the net, then roofed the puck on his backhand to make it 3-1.  On the ensuing faceoff, Chandler Stephenson chipped the puck to himself, beat the Warriors back to their own net and pulled the puck across the goal mouth and slid it by Paulic to push the lead to 4-1.  The goals came just six seconds apart, the fastest Pats goals on the season.

Third Period
The Warriors didn’t go away quietly in the third period trailing by three.  They quickly evened up the shot total and surpassed the Pats in that category.  Moose Jaw cut into the lead just past the midway point of the period when Point’s wraparound rebounded out into a crowd of players.  After a scramble, Rodewald gathered it up and put it to the top half of the net to cut the Regina lead to two goals.  That was as close as the Warriors would get as the Pats sealed the contest with a Dryden Hunt empty net tally to wrap the game on a 5-2 score in favour of the home side.  With the win, the Pats moved to a perfect 7-0-0-0 against the Warriors this season.
