On Saturday night, the Oil Kings offence exploded for nine goals, with Marsh scoring twice, including the game winner, and adding two assists for a first star effort in Lethbridge against the Hurricanes. Neither team held more than a one-goal lead in this game as the game saw high pace and energy throughout. In the first, it was the Royals opening the scoring off the stick of Jacob Schwartz who forced a turnover before firing a shot home. Edmonton responded though at the 12:54 mark of the frame, courtesy of Luke Melnik's second in as many games. The second was more of the same as both teams continued trading chances. Miles Cooper scored for the Royals at the 5:42 mark of the second, but that lead only lasted 28 seconds as Dylan Ronalds first goal as an Oil Kings made it 2-2. Then at the 8:44 mark of the period, it was Ashton Brown giving the Royals a 3-2 lead. Less than two minutes after that it was Jensen Marsh getting in on the action, tying the game 3-3. Later in the frame, Jonas Vanicek gave the Oil Kings the 4-3 lead for his third of the season. While the Oil Kings gave up the opening marker of the hockey game, just 30 seconds in off the stick of Will Scott, it didn't seem to quiet the Oil Kings. Edmonton would respond with three goals of their own in a span of 2:40 as it started with Noa Ta'amu's second goal of the season to make it 1-1. Then, two goals in a span of 21 seconds gave Edmonton a 3-1 lead with Luke Melnik notching a powerplay marker before Jonas Vanicek got his second goal of the season. Then, Easton Daneault added one for Lethbridge to make it 3-2 after 20 minutes. Edmonton came out firing in the second period, outshooting the Hurricanes 8-3 in the period and scoring twice. The first came almost six minutes into the frame as Jensen Marsh tapped in a powerplay goal off a nice passing play with Vanicek and Stroeder to make it 4-2. Olli Wahlroos then forced a turnover on an Oil Kings penalty kill and made no mistake for the team's first shorthanded goal of the season to make it 5-2. The Oil Kings continued their dominance into the third period as just 30 seconds in, Stroeder was left alone in front and tucked one home to make it 6-2. Marsh's second of the game came at the 3:47 mark of the period as he fired a one timer home for a 7-2 lead. The Oil Kings had some more quality chances in the second frame, including a five-on-three powerplay, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunities.
