Oil Kings Set to Open Season in Lethbridge
Lethbridge, Alta. – The Edmonton Oil Kings open the regular season today in Lethbridge as they take on the Hurricanes to kick off the 2024/2025 season.
The Oil Kings are coming off a 3-1-0-0 record in the pre-season, scoring a total of 20 goals, including 6 in three of the four games. They also only allowed 14 goals in the process as well.
Edmonton will look to build off a strong finish to the 2023/2024 season after winning 12 of their last 18 games.
Some key cogs are still at various NHL Camps including Gracyn Sawchyn, Parker Alcos, Miroslav Holinka, Adam Jecho, and Marshall Finnie. However, goalie Kolby Hay has returned from Los Angeles Kings camp, and Rhys Pederson is back with the club after some time at Edmonton Oilers Rookie Camp in Penticton.
However, the bus rolls along and the Oil Kings will be using their depth to try and earn two points in game number one of the season.
Their opponents, the Hurricanes, were 2-2-0-0 in the pre-season and scored 15 goals, while allowing 14. The Hurricanes are coming off a season where they were the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference for the WHL playoffs where they were swept by the Swift Current Broncos.
This will mark the first of eight meetings between the two clubs. Last season, the two met six times with each team winning three games.
