Oil Kings make twelve selections at 2024 WHL Prospects Draft
May 10, 2024 (Edmonton, AB) – The Edmonton Oil Kings made a total of twelve selections in yesterday’s 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
In total, the Oil Kings drafted seven forwards, four defenceman, and one goaltender.
ROUND 1 | 5TH OVERALL | C KAYDEN STROEDER
Stroeder is a product of Lagina, SK and played this past season with the Humboldt Broncos U15 AA team and finished 3rd in the Saskatchewan AA Hockey League in scoring picking up 127 points (58G, 69A) in 27 games in the regular season. Stroeder picked up an additional 25 points (12G, 13A) through 8 games in the post season.
ROUND 2 | 27TH OVERALL | C/RW JENSEN MARSH
Marsh is a Cochrane, AB product and played this past season with Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA picking up 59 points in the regular season (28G, 31A) in 32 games played. He added an additional 12 points (8G, 4A) to his tally through 5 post season games.
Marsh led his team in scoring and finished of the season fifth overall in scoring in the Alberta Elite Hockey League’s U15 AAA division.
ROUND 3 | 50TH OVERALL | D KAYSON ANDERSON
Anderson is a Lumsden, SK product and played this last season with the Prairie Storm U15 AA where the 6-foot, 145-pound defenceman picked up 23 points (7G, 16A) and 59 penalty minutes in 24 games played. He topped off his season with an addition 3 points (3A) and 22 penalty minutes in 4 post season games.
ROUND 3 | 67TH OVERALL | C HUDSON SALVADOR
Salvador, a Livingston, New Jersey product, spent the previous season with the New Jersey Rockets 14U team picking up 13 points (6G, 7A) and 6 penalty minutes in 11 games played.
ROUND 4 | 71ST OVERALL | C BORIS SIGACHEV
The 5-foot-11, 166-pound centreman played the past season with the Calgary NCWAA U15AAA Flames picking up 42 points (20G, 22A) and 36 penalty minutes in 34 games played. Sigachev picked up an addition 2 points (1G, 1A) in the teams 2 postseason games.
ROUND 6 | 112TH OVERALL | D PAXTON WHITE
White, a La Salle, MB product, sent the last season with the Pembina Valley Hawks U15 AAA team and led the team in scoring by a defenceman with 20 points (6G, 14A) in 30 games played.
ROUND 7 | 153RD OVERALL | G RAIL SCHOLLAR
The lone netminder picked up by the Oil Kings in the draft, Schollar, the Calgary, AB product notched 11 wins in 16 games played with the Calgary CNHA U15 AAA Northstars. Schollar finished off the season with a 2.18 GAA and a 0.932 SV%.
ROUND 8 | 165TH OVERALL | LW RYAN SADOVIA
Kelowna, BC native Ryan Sadovia spend the past season with Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna’s U15 Prep team where he picked up 32 points (10G, 22A) and 6 penalty minutes in 27 games played.
ROUND 9 | 182ND OVERALL | C EASTON DORAN
Falher, AB product Easton Doran spent the 2023-24 season with Northern Alberta Xtreme U15 Varsity finishing second in scoring in the Canadian Sports School Hockey League Varsity U15 division with 74 points (27G, 47A) in 25 games played.
ROUND 11 | 226TH OVERALL | D CARTER REBMAN
Rebman, a product of Kelowna, BC, spent the last season with the Okanagan Rockets U15 AAA team where he finished second in scoring amongst defenceman on the team with 22 points (3G, 19A) in 30 games played.
Carter is the younger brother of Oil Kings forward Smyth Rebman.
ROUND 12 | 248TH OVERALL | LW TREYTIN FRIZZELL
Frizzell, a Whitehorse YT native, played the previous season with the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy U15 Prep team where he finished third amongst his team in scoring picking up 19 points (8G, 11A) in addition to 14 penalty minutes throughout 28 games.
ROUND 13 | 270TH OVERALL | D REDFORD DUNCAN
Duncan, a Sherman Oaks, California product, played the past season with the California Golden Bears 14U program where he picked up 35 points (12G, 23A) along with 66 penalty minutes through 51 games played.
