[{"id":35628,"date":"2026-06-03T12:59:43","date_gmt":"2026-06-03T16:59:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl-hurricanes\/?p=35628"},"modified":"2026-06-03T12:59:43","modified_gmt":"2026-06-03T16:59:43","slug":"dayne-beuker-signs-with-hurricanes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chl.ca\/whl-hurricanes\/article\/dayne-beuker-signs-with-hurricanes","title":{"rendered":"Dayne Beuker Signs with Hurricanes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Lethbridge, AB &#8211; <\/strong>The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club has announced the signing of 2008-born forward Dayne Beuker to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDayne is a talented player who has competed successfully on the international level, and we are pleased that he has chosen to continue his development with our organization,\u201d said Hurricanes Interim General Manager Barclay Parneta. \u201cWe are also grateful that Dayne and his family have trusted us with the next steps in his development. He brings a strong skill set and character to our group, and we believe he will be an important part of our future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beuker, 18, was originally drafted by the Hurricanes in the first-round (14<sup>th<\/sup> overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The product of Humboldt, Saskatchewan, holds a dual citizenship and has spent the last two seasons with US National Development Program. In 2025-2026, he recorded 61 points (20g-41a) along with 18 penalty minutes in a combined 87 regular season games with the USNTDP U18 program finishing seventh in team scoring. Beuker collected 18 points (6g-12a) along with two penalty minutes and a plus-7 rating in 25 games with USNTDP in United States Hockey League competition. He is ranked 76<sup>th<\/sup> among North American skaters by the National Hockey League Central Scouting Service on their Final Rankings for the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am really excited to join the Hurricanes. They have a great organization that has produced a lot of high-end players, they have great a coaching staff, management group and an awesome fan base,\u201d said Beuker. \u201cI think Lethbridge is a great place to develop. From the staff, to the facility, to the trainers, they offer it all. Being able to compete against a lot of good players in practice and to play a lot of games, this is a great situation for me to grow as a player.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 5\u201910, 170-pound forward appeared suited up for the USNTDP at the 2025 CHL-USA Prospects Challenge which was held in Calgary and Lethbridge in November. Beuker recorded one goal and four penalty minutes in the three contests. He also represented the United States at the World Under-18 Championships in April where he collected five points (2g-3a) along with a plus-5 rating in five contests finishing fourth in American scoring.<\/p>\n<p>In two seasons with the USNTDP, Beuker recorded a combined 118 points (38g-80a) along with 36 penalty minutes in 180 regular season games at both the U17 and U18 levels. In his draft year, the right-shot centre racked up 103 points (47g-56a) along with 10 penalty minutes in 30 regular season games with the Humboldt Broncos U15 AA program before amassing a whopping 28 points (11g-17a) and four penalty minutes in nine post-season games leading the Broncos to a SAAHL U15 Championship. In the year after being drafted by Lethbridge, Beuker had a standout 2023-2024 season finishing with 84 points (41g-43a) in 44 regular season games before adding 11 points (4g-7a) in 10 playoff contests. That year, he led the Blazers to a SMAAAHL Championship while leading the league in goals, assists and points. He was also named a SMAAAHL First Team All-Star, the Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Top Forward as a 15-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am really looking forward to playing in front of the fans. I played there last year for the CHL-USA Prospects Challenge and it was awesome,\u201d added Beuker. \u201cI know a couple of the guys on the team having played with them growing up. It seems like a great group and I\u2019m excited to get to work with them<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m really grateful to get this opportunity to part of the Hurricanes organization, I\u2019m excited to get to play for Matt Anholt, and I\u2019m really excited to get things started with the Hurricanes. I can\u2019t wait for camp; it will be very important for our group to set foundations of ethic, teamwork and play structure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beuker is the son of WHL alumnus Dean Beuker who spent parts of five seasons in the league with the Tri-City Americans, Portland Winterhawks and Regina Pats before embarking on a four-year career in CIS hockey with the University of Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFull credit goes to our entire hockey staff for the work they have done in building relationships and creating an environment that players want to be a part of. We have a family connection to hockey in Lethbridge. My Great Grandpa played for the Native Sons, my Uncle played for the Broncos, and my dad Tyler was also drafted by the Hurricanes; so it\u2019s pretty cool that I got drafted by Lethbridge as well, and I\u2019m really excited for the chance to play there,\u201d said Gow.<\/p>\n<p>Gow, 15, was selected by the Hurricanes in the third-round (50<sup>th<\/sup> overall) in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. The Nanaimo, British Columbia, product had a standout 2025-2026 season with the Delta Hockey Academy U15 Prep team where he recorded 52 points (26g-26a) along with 22 penalty minutes in 30 regular season games. He added five points (2g-3a) along with four penalty minutes in three post-season games. Gow also appeared in four regular season games being held pointless while adding one assist in three playoff games with the Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep team last season. He was named to the 2025-2026 CSSHL U15 First All-Star Team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to get Ronan signed to a WHL contract. He\u2019s a very competitive player who we were thrilled to be able to select in the third-round,\u201d said Hurricanes Head Scout Garry Carson. \u201cRonan is the type of player that we think will be a very good WHLer with a strong two-way game who can score at a high level. He is a great leader who also served as Captain in Delta last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20191, 175-pound forward finished the 2025-2026 season leading the Delta U15 Prep team in goals (26) while finishing second in points (52). Gow also was tied in team points in the post-season. He served as Captain for the U15 team. During last season, he recorded three points (2g-1a) and two penalty minutes in five games with the Delta U15 Prep team as the John Reid Memorial Tournament. He added five points (3g-2a) and two penalty minutes in four games with Team Black at the 2026 BC Cup while collecting six points (2g-4a) in six games with First Class U15 team at the Toronto Exposure Cup U15 tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to get things started with the Hurricanes. I\u2019ve heard great things about the organization, the coaches, and the city,\u201d added Gow. \u201cIt will be nice to meet everyone, get to camp, and start competing. I can\u2019t wait for camp to start; it\u2019s something I\u2019ve been looking forward to for a long time and I\u2019m excited to learn from the older guys and the coaches to push myself against really good competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gow totaled 14 points (7g-7a) along with 14 penalty minutes during the 2024-2025 season with the Delta U15 Prep team while adding two goals in five playoff games helping the U15 team to a CSSHL Championship in 2025. Swift Current also traded 2007-born defenceman Josh McGregor to Brandon in the trade.<\/p>\n<p>Stuart, 19, was originally selected second overall by the Wheat Kings in the 2022 WHL US Priority Draft. The Manhatten Beach, California, product has split the 2025-2026 season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Sioux Falls Stampede in the United States Hockey League where he collected 16 points (6g-10a) along with 31 penalty minutes in 51 regular season games. He has also tallied one assist in eight post-season games having helped the Stampede to the USHL Championship Series. Stuart has a commitment to the University of Denver.<\/p>\n<p>The 5\u20199, 165-pound forward previously spent two seasons with the US National Development Program where he appeared in a combined 132 regular season games collecting 42 points (24g-18a) along with 46 penalty minutes with the NTDP U17 and U18 programs. Last year, Stuart amassed 31 points (17g-14a) along with 36 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games at the U18 level. He is the older brother of Hurricanes prospect Logan Stuart and the son of former NHL defenceman and Regina Pat and Calgary Hitmen alumnus Brad Stuart.<\/p>\n<p>Kibblewhite, 19, was originally acquired from the Saskatoon Blades in August of 2025. The Vernon, British Columbia, product appeared in 53 regular season games setting career highs in goals, assists and points while finishing sixth in Hurricanes scoring with 29 points (14g-15a) along with two penalty minutes. He finished fifth in goals while serving as an alternate captain. May 6<sup>th<\/sup> when the league will hold its first round with a live draft show streamed free on Victory+ beginning with the pre-draft show starting at 5:30pm MT. The league will then host rounds two through 15 on Thursday, May 7<sup>th<\/sup> beginning at 10:00am MT.<\/p>\n<p>In 2026, players born in the United States will be eligible for the Prospects Draft after the WHL abandoned the two-round US Priority Draft which was held for six years from 2020 until 2025. Players eligible for the WHL Prospects Draft\u00a0 are 2011-born players who reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.<\/p>\n<p>The Hurricanes enter the 2026 WHL Draft owning a total of 19 draft picks in the 15-round draft, including 12 picks in the first eight rounds. Lethbridge\u2019s first selection will be with Saskatoon\u2019s pick, 14<sup>th<\/sup> overall, which was acquired from the Kelowna Rockets in November in the Shane Smith and Vojtech Cihar trade. The \u2018Canes will also hold a total of two third-round picks, two fourth-round picks, two sixth-round picks and four seventh-round selections. The Eagan, Minnesota, product was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Medicine Hat Tigers prior to the 2026 Western Hockey League Trade Deadline. He appeared in 64 regular season games collecting 35 points (11g-24a) along with 37 penalty minutes split between the \u2018Canes and Tigers during his rookie campaign in 2025-2026. Heger totaled 20 points (6g-14a) along with 12 penalty minutes in 29 regular games with Lethbridge following the trade.<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20191, 192-pound rearguard finished fifth in Hurricanes scoring during the 2025-2026 season while leading all defenceman with his 35 points. Heger ranked tied for sixth among first-year WHL defenceman in scoring. He was named a co-winner of the Hurricanes Hardest Working Player while also a co-winner of the Hurricanes Top Defenceman Award. Heger was previously ranked 67<sup>th<\/sup> by NHL Central Scouting on the Midterm Rankings in January.<\/p>\n<p>Lesiuk, 18, was ranked 189<sup>th<\/sup> among North American Skaters. The Duncan, British Columbia, product set a new career high during the 2025-2026 season collecting 14 points (9g-5a) along with a team-high 106 penalty minutes in 63 regular season games. The former second-round draft pick of the Hurricanes has appeared in 96 career regular season games amassing 19 points (10g-9a) along with 128 penalty minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20194, 216-pound forward ended his sophomore season sitting seventh in the WHL in penalty minutes while sitting second among players from the Eastern Conference. Lesiuk became the first Hurricane since Landen Ward in 2023-2024 to hit the century mark in penalty minutes while becoming just the seventh player for Lethbridge in the last decade to record over 100-PIMS in a season. The Calgary, AB, product is one of 23 players named to the roster which includes nine players from the Western Hockey League. He previously represented Canada at the 2025 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge where he led Canada Red to a Gold medal finishing the tournament with a 3-0-1 record while collecting a 2.95 goals against average and a .905 save percentage. He was named a tournament all-star for Canada Red, posting 38-saves in the Gold medal game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to congratulate Leif on earning the opportunity to compete for a spot on Canada\u2019s U18 team,\u201d said Hurricanes Interim General Manager Barclay Parneta. \u201cLeif is a young goaltender with a very bright future ahead of him, and this selection is a testament to his work ethic, character, and performance both with our club and on the international stage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 6\u20193, 194-pound goaltender was originally drafted in the third-round (58<sup>th<\/sup> overall) in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. Oaten appeared in 31 regular season games with the Hurricanes posting a record of 6-19-2-0 with a 4.23 goals against average and a .876 save percentage with one shutout during the 2025-2026 season. He finished the campaign 10<sup>th<\/sup> among rookie netminders in the WHL in games played (31) and was the lone 16-year-old goaltender in the league. Oaten posted an impressive 2.87 GAA and a .909 SV% with one shutout while collecting a record of 6-4-0-0 in 10 home contests last season with the \u2018Canes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeif has represented his country and the Hurricanes with pride, and we are excited to watch him take this step. He will represent Hockey Canada for the third time, first at the U18 level. He has previously represented Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in 2024 and 2025 serving as an Assistant Coach in both tournaments. In 2025, Anholt helped lead Canada Red to a Silver medal in Truro, Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n<p>The Prince Albert, SK, product was named the Hurricanes head coach on June 25, 2025. Anholt has been a member of the \u2018Canes coaching staff for the past eight seasons, serving in various roles including Skills Coach, Assistant Coach, Associate Head Coach and Assistant General Manager. He led Lethbridge to a record of 17-47-3-1 in his first season as Head Coach during the 2025-2026 regular season and has amassed a record of 22-51-3-1 record as Hurricanes bench boss.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to sincerely congratulate both Matt and Ryan on being selection to represent Canada at the U18 World Championships. This is an outstanding and well-earned opportunity and to be a part of Team Canada at this level speaks volumes about the reputation they\u2019ve built and the trajectory they are on in our game,\u201d said Hurricanes Interim General Manager Barclay Parneta who has also represented Hockey Canada at various levels during his career.<\/p>\n<p>Aasman, 34, will also serve as a Video Coach for the World U18 Championship. He will represent Hockey Canada for the second time after first serving as a Video Coach for Canada Red at the 2022 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Langley, British Columbia, where he captured a Silver medal. He also worked as a camp coach at the 2025 U17 development camp in Calgary.<\/p>\n<p>The Medicine Hat, AB, was originally hired by the Hurricanes as a Video Coach prior to the 2021-2022 season. Aasman has spent the last five seasons with the \u2018Canes with the last four as an Assistant Coach.
