GAME PREVIEW
The Lethbridge Hurricanes will face elimination for the first time in the WHL Playoffs tonight as they travel to Calgary to face the Hitmen in Game 6 trailing the best-of-seven first-round series 3-2.
The Hurricanes were downed 6-5 on Saturday night at Nicholas Sheran Arena. Jake Leschyshyn scored twice while Jordy Bellerive, Nick Henry, and Logan Barlage added the others in the losing cause. The ‘Canes went 3/8 on the power play in Game 6 despite the loss.
The Hitmen were led by their Captain Mark Kastelic who had two goals, including the game-winner, as well as an assist in his return from injury. Four other Hitmen players had multi-point efforts including Dakota Krebs (3a), Vladisalv Yeryomenko (1g-1a), Cael Zimmerman (1g-1a) and Luke Coleman (1g-1a) in the victory.
Today’s game takes place at Scotiabank Saddledome.
PLAYOFF SERIES: Tonight will be Game 6 of the best-of-seven first round series between the Hurricanes and the Hitmen. The Hitmen lead the series 3-2. It’s the first time the two teams will face-off in the WHL Playoffs since 2009 while it will be the fifth time overall the ‘Canes will face the Hitmen in the post-season.

The ‘Canes have posted a 1-3 playoff series record against the Hitmen, having been swept in four games in the second round of the 2009 playoffs the last time they met in the post-season. Lethbridge’s lone series win as in the 2008 WHL Eastern Conference Championship Series eliminating Calgary in a four game sweep.
