Canes drop tough one to Oil King

Home side out shoots visitors 31-18 in loss

rLethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes battled to a 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday night from the ENMAX Centre. A short Lethbridge bench blasted Edmonton goaltender Torrie Jung; outshooting the visiting Oil kings 31-18 in a losing cause. Hurricanes Captain Ben Wright notched his second of the season and the Canes only red lighter of the evening with a laser guided blast from the point which found the twine. The Canes record drops to 20-16-0-2 on the season as the “Boys from the Bridge” will look to right the ship tonight against the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings.

rThe Hurricanes will now prepare for their third game in four nights as they host the Brandon Wheat Kings on Tuesday, December 30th. Lethbridge will look to sweep both 08-09 regular season home games against Brandon on this night after taking a thrilling 4-2 win over the Wheaties on Nov. 28th at the ENMAX Centre. Zach Boychuk led the way with a three point (1G,2A) night fresh off his MVP performance in the ADT Canada Russia Challenge, while Cam Braes, Dan Iwanski and Colton Sceviour scored the other Hurricanes goals. The Canes will look to avenge a loss to the Wheaties in their last game before the WHL Christmas break. Lethbridge held the lead three times in that game with goals from Carter Ashton, Sceviour and Garrett Taylor before eventually falling in a shootout. Juha Metsola had a stellar performance with 38 saves to guide the Canes to a single point.
