PRE-SEASON GAME DAY: Hurricanes Begin Exhibition Season Against Tigers
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open the 2022 ENMAX Pre-Season tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the ENMAX Centre.
The Hurricanes, who finished last season with a record of 33-30-4-1, will host the Tigers in the first of a home-and-home exhibition set as part of their four-game pre-season schedule. Lethbridge enters the exhibition season with 31-players on their roster, including four 2007-born players in Will Sharpe, Kash Andresen, Koen Cleaver and Carsen Adair. The ‘Canes posted a perfect 8-0-0-0 record against the Tigers during the 2021-2022 season.
The Tigers, who ended 2021-2022 with an 11-53-3-1 record, enter tonight carrying 35-players on their roster. Medicine Hat currently has five 2007-born players on their roster including Matt Paranych, Kadon McCann, Hayden Harsanyi, Gavin McKenna and Jordan Switzer. The Tigers were 0-4-0-0 at the ENMAX Centre last season.
Tonight will be the first of two pre-season meetings between the ‘Canes and Tigers, who will also meet eight times during the regular season. Tickets for tonight’s game can be purchased for $10.00 at the door or in advance at the Lethbridge Hurricanes Office, the Lethbridge Minor Hockey Office or at any Gas King location in Lethbridge.
Parking will also be free for tonight’s pre-season game at the ENMAX Centre. Donations for Socktember will also be accepted at tonight’s game as new socks will be collected in support of Grant’s Closet, Lethbridge Family Services and the YWCA, proudly driven by On-Side Restoration.

VS. TIGERS: Tonight will be the first of a back-to-back pre-season set between the Hurricanes and the Tigers at the ENMAX Centre. The two teams will play the second half tomorrow at Co-op Centre. Lethbridge posted a perfect 8-0-0-0 record against Medicine Hat during the regular season in 2021-2022, marking the first time in franchise history the ‘Canes swept the Tigers in a season. The two teams will meet eight times in the regular season this coming season, starting September 24th with the season opener.

NEWS & NOTES:
Tune Up SZN: The Hurricanes will play four games during their 2022 ENMAX Pre-Season schedule with a pair of games against the Medicine Hat Tigers and the Red Deer Rebels. The ‘Canes posted a 2-2-0-0 record in four exhibition contests in 2021.
20-Goal Guy: Hurricanes co-captain Jett Jones is the only returning 20-goal scorer from the 2021-2022 season. Jones finished last year with 20 goals and 42 points in 68 games, finishing fourth in team-scoring. Only Justin Hall (34) and Yegor Klavdiev (21) had more goals last year.
Off-Season Moves: Over the off-season, the ‘Canes made a collection of trades, including the acquisition of 2002-born forward Cole Carrier from the Regina Pats in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in 2023. Carrier appeared in 65 games in 2021-2022 with the Pats totaling 27 points (15g-12a). The ‘Canes also traded forward Reid MacKay and Briley Wood and defenceman Easton Kovacs for draft picks.
Overage Quartet: The Hurricanes will enter the 2022-2023 season with four overage players on their roster as a result of a lower-body injury to goaltender Bryan Thomson. In addition to Thomson, the ‘Canes also have forwards Jett Jones, Alex Thacker and Cole Carrier on their roster.
Fresh Ink: The ‘Canes recently signed 2006-born defenceman Kale Tipler to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. The Edgerton, AB product was a sixth-round (122nd overall) pick in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. Tipler will play for the Lloydminster Bobcats U18 AAA team this season.
2007 Group: Lethbridge enters the 2022 ENMAX Pre-Season with four 2007-born players on their 31-man roster. Will Sharpe, Kash Andresen, Koen Cleaver and Carsen Adair, who were all drafted in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft will start the exhibition season with the big club.
AA: Hurricanes have added European forward Anton Astashevich. The Belarus-born forward spent the 2021-2022 season with the Calgary Hitmen totaling seven points (2g-5a) in 45 regular season games. Astashevich will be the only import on the Hurricanes roster.
