Marques, Doyle, Wilke Named to Under-17 Development Camp Roster
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club are proud to announce that 2006-born forwards Miguel Marques and Trae Wilke and 2006-born defenseman Tristen Doyle have been named to the Men’s Under-17 Development Camp Roster by Hockey Canada.
Marques, 16, was originally selected by the Hurricanes 10th overall in the 2021 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. The Prince George, BC product racked up 116 points (42g-74a) along with 54 penalty minutes in 31 regular season games with the Delta Hockey Academy U17 Prep club last season, while adding an additional 30 points (12g-18a) and six penalty minutes in just five post-season games helping Delta U17 capture the CSSHL Championship.
The 5’11, 170-pound forward skated in 10 regular season games with the Hurricanes totaling six points (2g-4a) with two penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. Marques appeared in all four playoff games for the ‘Canes going pointless with two penalty minutes. He also added 10 points (5g-5a) in five games for Team BC at the WHL Cup.
Doyle, 16, was selected by the Hurricanes 17th overall in the 2021 WHL Draft. The Bonnyville, AB product appeared in 33 regular season games with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep team in 2021-2022 totaling 42 points (10g-32a) and 39 penalty minutes. He added three points (1g-2a) in four post-season games.
The 5’10, 161-pound defenseman skated in four regular season games with the Hurricanes collecting one goal. He made his WHL debut on March 27th in Edmonton before netting his first goal on April 9th against the Calgary Hitmen. Doyle also collected five assists in five games for Team Alberta at the WHL Cup.
Wilke, 16, was selected by the ‘Canes in the second round (29th overall) in the 2021 WHL Draft. The Saskatoon, SK product appeared in 44 games with the Saskatoon Blazers U18 AAA team totaling 46 points (17g-29a) and 42 penalty minutes. He added six points (1g-6a) in seven post-season games.
The 5’11, 165-pound forward made his WHL debut with the Hurricanes on March 9th in his hometown of Saskatoon scoring his first WHL goal in the contest. Wilke added four points (2g-2a) in five games for Team Saskatchewan at the WHL Cup.
A total of 100 players, including 10 goaltenders, 30 defenseman and 60 forwards will attend the camp which will take place from July 10-16 at the Markin MacPhail Centre at WinSport’s Canada Olympic Park in Calgary.
