GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Winterhawks in Lone Meeting
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open a two-game home weekend as they welcome the Portland Winterhawks at 7:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
The Hurricanes (2-5-0-0) enter having earned a 3-2 victory in Red Deer against the Rebels on Tuesday. The win ended a four-game losing streak for the ‘Canes. Kade Duell, Tyden Lafournaise and Logan Wormald scored in the win while Koen Cleaver made 29-saves. The Hurricanes were outshot 31-27 in the game by the Rebels Lethbridge enters tonight 0-3-0-0 on home ice this year.
The Winterhawks (2-3-0-0) enters after earning a 6-4 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday. Max Psenicka and Jordan Duguay each scored twice while Kayd Ruedig and Jake Gustafson added the others in the win; Ondrej Stebetak made 24-saves in the victory. Portland has played all five games this season on the road as they are in a stretch of 11-straight road games to start the season.
Tonight will be the lone meeting on the season between the Hurricanes and Winterhawks. Lethbridge has lost the last three head-to-head meetings against Portland dating back to the 2019-2020 season. VS. WINTERHAWKS: Tonight will be the only meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Winterhawks. Lethbridge has lost the last three-straight meetings against Portland dating back to the 2019-2020 regular season. New Bench Boss: Matt Anholt was named the 16th head coach in Hurricanes history on June 25th. Anholt has spent the past seven seasons as an assistant / associate coach with the ‘Canes.
