GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Wheat Kings in Friday Clash
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes play the final of a two-game homestand as they welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings to the ENMAX Centre tonight at 7:00pm.
The Hurricanes (4-6-0-0) enter having dropped a 3-2 decision to the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday night. Jett Jones and Dustin Renas scored in the contest while Jared Picklyk made 26-saves. It was the ‘Canes second straight home defeat as they enter 2-2-0-0 at the ENMAX Centre this season. Lethbridge has lost five of their last seven games having gone 2-5-0-0 in that span.
The Wheat Kings (5-4-1-0) are coming off a 3-0 shutout victory in Kelowna against the Rockets on Wednesday. Nate Danielson, Andrei Malyavin and Nolan Ritchie scored in the victory while Carson Bjarnason made 29-saves for his first WHL shutout. Brandon enters tonight with a 4-2-0-0 record on the road this season and will play game seven of an eight-game road trip.
Tonight will be the first of four head-to-head meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Wheat Kings. Last year, Lethbridge went winless in four games against Brandon, including going 0-2-0-0 at home against the Wheat Kings.

Canada Calling: Hurricanes rookies Miguel Marques and Tristen Doyle, along with assistant coach Ryan Aasman have been named to represent Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Marques and Doyle will represent Canada White while Aasman will be a video coach for Canada Red. The tournament will take place from November 3-12 at the Langley Events Centre.
Homemade Pickles: Goaltender Jared Picklyk, who is in his second full season with the Hurricanes, enters tonight with a 2-4-0-0 record. The Kelowna, BC, product has been strong in his three home games this season having gone 2-1-0-0 with a 2.70 goals against average and a .904 saves percentage at the ENMAX Centre. Picklyk made 26-saves in a 3-2 loss to the Blades on Wednesday.
Clutch Cutch: Third year defenceman Logan McCutcheon enters tonight having collected five assists on the season and sits as the team leader in points. He is on pace for 34 points on the season. McCutcheon had a career-high 28 points last season for the ‘Canes finishing second in team defenceman scoring.

20-Goal Guy: Hurricanes co-captain Jett Jones is the only returning 20-goal scorer from the 2021-2022 season. Jones finished last year with 20 goals and 42 points in 68 games, finishing fourth in team-scoring. Only Justin Hall (34) and Yegor Klavdiev (21) had more goals last year.
