GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Tigers for Canadian Tire Toque & Teddy Toss
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue a four-game homestand tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena in the annual Canadian Tire Toque and Teddy Toss.
The Hurricanes (13-10-1-1) enter after ending a season-long six-game losing streak on Tuesday with a 5-3 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. Logan Wormald scored twice, including the game-winning goal, while Hayden Pakkala, Noah Chadwick and Brayden Yager scored in the win; Jackson Unger made 18-saves for his first victory as a Hurricane. Lethbridge enters with a 9-2-1-0 record at home this season and are 4-4-0-0 against Central Division opponents.
The Tigers (16-11-1-0) enter on a four-game point streak having gone 3-0-1-0 in that span after earning a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over the Swift Current Broncos on Wednesday. Liam Ruck scored twice and Oasiz Wiesblatt added a goal to erase a 3-0 deficit before Gavin McKenna scored the winning goal with just 16-seconds remaining in regulation; Jordan Switzer made 16-saves in the win. Medicine Hat has posted a 6-7-0-0 record on the road this season while going 6-7-0-0 against Central Division opponents.
Tonight will be the second of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted a 1-0-0-0 record so far this season downing Medicine Hat 7-6 in October. The ‘Canes and Tigers will meet four times in the month of December. Jet-Is-In: On December 2nd, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of Winnipeg Jets prospect Brayden Yager from the Moose Jaw Warriors. The former first-round NHL draft pick made is Hurricanes debut against the Warriors on December 3rd and scored his first goal as a ‘Cane. Yager has 281 career WHL points (116g-165a) in 234 career games. He was named to the Canadian Selection Camp for the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday.
South Paw: The ‘Canes acquired goaltender Jackson Unger from the Warriors in a blockbuster trade along with Brayden Yager on December 2nd. The Calgary, AB, product made 18-saves in his ‘Canes debut against the Warriors on December 3rd. Unger has appeared in 127 regular season games in his career posting a record of 63-49-6-3. Unger joined Yager and Vojtech Port on the Lethbridge roster who were apart of the Warriors title last season.
Climbing Ranks: Overage defenceman Logan McCutcheon suited up in his 250th career WHL game on November 16th against Victoria. He has appeared in 256 career games for the Hurricanes as 15th all-time in team history – three games shy of Ben Wright for 14th. The former third-round draft pick (60th overall) in the 2019 draft is also ranked eighth all-time in defenceman scoring in ‘Canes history sitting one point back of Terry Hollinger (126) for seventh in team history.
Century Mark: Hurricanes Captain Noah Chadwick reached the 100-point plateau with a goal against the Warriors on December 3rd. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick became just the 13th defenceman in Hurricanes history to reach the century mark. Chadwick appeared in 169 career games with the ‘Canes amassing 25 goals and 75 assists along with 62 penalty minutes in his WHL career.
Gone Streakin’: Brayden Edwards had a career-long 11-game point streak end on November 20th in Everett. He racked up 18 points (7g-11a) on his streak. The Abbotsford, BC, product was the first Hurricane to register points in 10-or-more games since Oliver Okuliar had both a 10 and 11-game point streak in 2019-2020. Edwards has 34 points (13g-21a) in 22 games this season and is on pace for 100 points this season.
Miggy Wiggy: Nashville Predators prospect Miguel Marques enters tonight with points in four of his last five games having collected four points (1g-3a) in that span. The Prince George, BC, product has recorded points in 25 of his last 36 games dating back to last season having totaled 45 points (15g-30a) in that span. Marques is on pace for 90 points.
