GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Silvertips for First Time in Four Years
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes conclude a three-game homestand tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Everett Silvertips to the ENMAX Centre.
The Hurricanes (8-5-2-0) enter after having their three-game home winning streak come to an end on Friday with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Calgary Hitmen. Kooper Gizowski, Brayden Edwards and Elias Knoester scored in the defeat while Harrison Meneghin made 28-saves. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 5-0-2-0 record on home ice this year and are one of only two teams in the WHL yet to lose a game in regulation at home.
The Silvertips (7-5-1-0) enter with a 2-0-1-0 record in their last three-games after earning a 6-2 win in Spokane on Saturday. Tarin Smith scored twice while Beau Courtney, Eric Jamieson, Niko Tsakumis and Ben Hemmerling scored in the win; Ethan Chadwick made 41-saves in the victory. Everett has posted a 2-3-0-0 road record this season.
Tonight will be the lone meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Silvertips. It is the first visit Everett has made to Lethbridge since December 4, 2019. VS. SILVERTIPS: Tonight will be the only meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Silvertips. Last year, the ‘Canes suffered a 4-3 overtime loss in the lone meeting against the ‘Tips in Everett. Lethbridge has posted an 0-3-1-0 record in the last four matchups against Everett while going 7-9-1-0 all-time against the Silvertips, including a 5-4-0-0 record at the ENMAX Centre.

Thru 15: The Hurricanes enter tonight with an 8-5-2-0 record (18 points) on the season after 15 games. The ‘Canes are 5-0-2-0 at home and 3-5-0-0 on the road so far this season. In 2022-2023, the Hurricanes had posted a 7-8-0-0 record after 15 games.
Home Cookin’: After starting the season with seven of their first 10 games on the road, the Hurricanes are in a stretch of 10 games where they will play eight games at home. The ‘Canes will face Central Division opponents three times, East Division opponents once and US Division opponents four times during that stretch; Lethbridge is posted a 5-0-2-0 record on home-ice this season. The Hurricanes are one of only two teams left in the entire WHL yet to lose a game in regulation on home-ice.
Immediate Impact: After being claimed off CHL waivers from the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes, 2005-born import forward Leo Braillard has been great in four games for the Hurricanes collecting six points
(1g-5a). He had two helpers in his ‘Canes debut on November 20th. Braillard has 10 points (3g-7a) in 11 CHL games this season split between Shawinigan and Lethbridge.
Western Opposition: The ‘Canes are in a stretch where they will face Western Conference opponents nine times in a 12 game span. Lethbridge will face Seattle, Everett, Portland and Wenatchee at home before embarking on a five-game BC Division road trip in the middle of November. The Hurricanes are 1-0-0-0 against Western opponents so far this season.
Five Alive: NHL Central Scouting announced their Preliminary Players to Watch List for the 2024 NHL Draft on October 25th and five Hurricanes were listed. Miguel Marques and Landen Ward were ranked as ‘C’ skaters while Trae Wilke, Tristen Doyle and Harrison Meneghin were all ranked as ‘W’ players. The Hurricanes had the second-most players listed among WHL teams.
Harry at Home: Hurricanes netminder Harrison Meneghin has been terrific this season, especially at home. The 19-year-old who attended Minnesota Wild training camp in September has posted a 5-0-2-0 record on home-ice this year posting a staggering 1.26 goals against average and a .959 save percentage with two shutouts. Meneghin has posted a 2.02 GAA and a .935 SV% on the season.
Killin’ It: Entering tonight, the Hurricanes have killed off 52 of 59 penalties taken so far this season for a kill rate of 88.1% through the first 15 outings. Last year, the ‘Canes held the eighth-best PK including the top ranked home penalty kill. So far, Lethbridge has the fourth-best ranked penalty kill in the WHL this year.
