GAME DAY: Hurricanes Welcome Oil Kings Tonight at 6:00pm
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to action tonight as they welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings at 6:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
The Hurricanes (29-15-1-1) enter with a 10-1-0-0 record in their last 11 games after earning a 2-1 victory last Sunday at Rogers Place against the Edmonton Oil Kings. Brayden Yager and Brayden Edwards scored in the win while Jackson Unger was named the first star with 27-saves. Lethbridge improved to 17-5-0-0 in their last 22 games with the win. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 17-4-1-0 record at home this season.
The Oil Kings (25-19-1-2) enter on a three-game losing streak after suffering a 5-2 defeat to the Calgary Hitmen on Friday at Rogers Place. Adam Jecho and Miroslav Holinka scored in the losing cause while Alex Worthington made 29-saves in the game. Edmonton enters with a 10-11-1-1 on the road this season while going 1-1-0-0 in Lethbridge.
Tonight will be the sixth of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings; Lethbridge has posted a 3-2-0-0 record in the previous five contests having won the last two head-to-head meetings. 20+ Back-to-Back: Overage forward Brayden Edwards scored his 20th goal of the season on January 26th in Edmonton marking the second straight season he has scored 20-or-more goals in two straight seasons after recording 31 goals in 2023-2024. He became the first ‘Cane to score 20+ goals in consecutive seasons since Jett Jones in 2021-2022 (20 goals) and 2022-2023 (21 goals). Dylan Cozens (34 in 2018-2019, 38 in 2019-2020) was the last Hurricane to score 30+ goals in back-to-back seasons.
Stingy D: The Hurricanes enter play tonight as the second-best defensive team in the entire WHL allowing just 2.87 goals against per game, trailing Everett who ranks first (2.48 GAPG).
