GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Tigers in Second of Home-and-Home Set
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes visit the Medicine Hat Tigers at 7:00pm at Co-op Place in the second of a home-and-home weekend.
The Hurricanes (16-38-1-1) enter on a four-game losing streak after suffering a 3-0 loss to the Tigers on Friday night at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. It marked the fifth shutout loss of the season for the ‘Canes while Koen Cleaver made a season-high 49-saves in the loss. Lethbridge’s record fell to 4-5-1-0 in their last ten games. The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 6-21-1-0 record on the road this year.
The Tigers (38-9-5-3) enter with back-to-back victories following their 3-0 win over the Hurricanes Friday night. Luke Cozens, Andrew Basha and Markus Ruck scored in the win while Jordan Switzer made 26-saves for his second shutout of the season. Medicine Hat improved to 4-0-2-0 in their last six games with the victory. The Tigers enter tonight with a WHL-best 22-3-2-1 record at home this season.
Tonight will be the sixth of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted an 0-5-0-0 record against Medicine Hat this year while having suffered nine-straight regular season games against the Tigers. Berge Burying: Hurricanes 19-year-old forward Owen Berge enters tonight red hot of late. The Edmonton, AB, product enters having racked up nine goals in his last nine games while having collected 10 goals in his last 11 outings. He leads the Hurricanes with 20 goals this year. Since joining Lethbridge, he has recorded 31 points (19g-12a) in 41 games. He’s on pace for 25 goals and 45 points this season.
Put It in the Win Column: Entering tonight, the Hurricanes have posted a record of 4-5-1-0 in their last 10 games after a 3-0 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. It was the first WHL Prospects Game held in over 25-years dating back to the 1999-2000 season.
New Leadership Group: The ‘Canes announced a new leadership group for the remainder of the 2025-2026 season following the WHL Trade Deadline. Owen Berge, Kayden Longley, Carsen Adair and Hudson Kibblewhite will serve as Alternate Captains for the rest of the season while Lethbridge will go without a Captain for the rest of the season.
Midterm Ranked: Three Hurricanes players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting on the Midterm Rankings on January 12th. Kyle Heger (67th), Gavin Lesiuk (177th) and Nathan Maloney (220th) were all ranked among North American skaters. Of the three, Maloney was the lone player not ranked by Central Scouting on the Preliminary Players to Watch List in October.
