GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Americans in Lone Meeting
Spokane, WA – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue a five-game road trip tonight at 8:00pm MT as they visit the Tri-City Americans at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, Washington.
The Hurricanes (23-14-1-1) enter on a four-game winning streak after earning a 4-2 win in Moose Jaw on Saturday against the Warriors. Shane Smith scored twice while Logan Wormald and Jordan Gustafson scored; Koen Cleaver made 20-saves for the win. Lethbridge improved to 4-1-0-0 in their last five road games while their road record overall enters tonight sitting at 8-11-0-1 on the season.
The Americans (21-14-2-1) enter on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 4-1 loss in Everett on Sunday. Savin Virk scored the lone goal in the loss for Tri-City while Lukas Matecha was terrific making 37-saves in the loss. The Americans enter with a 2-8-0-0 record in their last eight games, but are 13-6-1-1 at home this season.
Tonight will be the lone meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Americans; Lethbridge has posted a 1-11-1-1 record in their last 14 head to head meetings against Tri-City. The game can be streamed on WHL Live, watched at Browns Socialhouse in Lethbridge or heard on 106.7 ROCK.

VS. AMERICANS: Tonight will be the only meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Americans. The ‘Canes have lost six straight games against the Americans while having posted a 19-25-1-1 with two ties all-time against the Americans while going 7-12-1-1 with two ties all-time in Tri-City. Road Trippin’: The ‘Canes opened a five-game road trip on Friday in Swift Current against the Broncos. Lethbridge will play two games in Saskatchewan before heading south for a three-game US Division road trip to face Tri-City, Wenatchee and Spokane. In total, the Hurricanes will travel roughly 2,300 kilometres.
CSS Ranked: Koen Cleaver was ranked 16th among North American goaltenders by the NHL Central Scouting Service on their Midterm Rankings for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Price is Right: On January 6th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2005-born defenceman Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Will Sharpe, the rights to 2007-born goaltender Harrison Boettiger and five draft picks, including a first-round pick in 2026. The Seattle Kraken third-round pick represented Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship in Ottawa. He made his ‘Canes debut on January 10th in a 2-1 overtime win in Swift Current.
Gus What: On December 27th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2004-born forward Jordan Gustafson from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for overage forward Hayden Pakkala, two third-round draft picks and a fifth-round pick. Gustafson, who won a WHL Championship with the T-Birds in 2023, is a signed NHL prospect of the Vegas Golden Knights. He made his ‘Canes debut on January 11th and had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win in Moose Jaw against the Warriors.
Unger Stellar: Jackson Unger has been outstanding since joining the Hurricanes. In his 10 decisions, the Calgary, AB, product has posted a 9-1-0-0 record with a 2.15 GAA and a .922 SV% while going a perfect
7-0-0-0 on home ice. Unger was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 15th. He has an 13-12-3-1 record on the season with a 3.59 GAA and a .897 SV%.
