GAME DAY: Hurricanes Return Home, Welcome Tigers
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open a two-game homestand tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to the ENMAX Centre.
The Hurricanes (28-26-5-0) enter on a three-game winning streak – their longest of the season – after a 4-3 win on Saturday in Prince Albert against the Raiders. Hayden Pakkala scored twice while Brayden Edwards and Dylan Sydor added the others; Harrison Meneghin made 37-saves for his 25th victory of the season. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 4-1-0-0 record in their last five games and are 16-8-5-0 at home this season. The ‘Canes currently hold eighth in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Tigers (35-19-5-2) enter after earning a 6-3 victory on Tuesday over the Brandon Wheat Kings at Co-op Place. Gavin McKenna and Tomas Mrsic both scored twice while Andrew Basha and Shane Smith added the others; Zach Zahara made 28-saves in the win. Medicine Hat enters tonight with a 15-12-1-1 record on the road this season as they lead the Central Division sitting second in the Eastern Conference standings.
Tonight will be the seventh of nine meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted a 3-3-0-0 record in the previous six meetings while going 1-2-0-0 at the ENMAX Centre. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 49 points (11g-38a) in 57 games with the Hurricanes this season. He is one point shy of becoming the first ‘Canes defenceman to record 50+ points in a season since Alex Cotton (67) and Calen Addison (52) accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 regular season.
