GAME DAY: Hurricanes Return Home to Face Warriors
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre tonight as they welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00pm.
The Hurricanes (3-1-0-0) enter after suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday in Edmonton falling 8-5 to the Oil Kings. Dustin Renas scored twice while Anton Astashevich, Noah Chadwick and Miguel Marques added the others in the loss. Brady Smith made his first WHL start making 21-saves in the defeat. Lethbridge has posted a 1-0-0-0 record at the ENMAX Centre so far this season after earning a 3-1 win in the Dairy Queen Home Opener against Swift Current. The ‘Canes will play four of their next five games on the road after tonight.
The Warriors (3-2-0-0) enter on a three-game winning streak after earning a 4-3 overtime win over the Regina Pats on Saturday. Jagger Firkus, Connor Schmidt and Lynden Lakovic scored in regulation while Brayden Yager netted the overtime winner. Moose Jaw enters with a 2-1-0-0 road record having won their last two games away from home. The Warriors will open a two-game Central Division road trip tonight against the Hurricanes.
Tonight will be the first of five meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors. Lethbridge posted a 1-3-0-0 record in the regular season against Moose Jaw last season while falling to the Warriors in four games in the first round of the WHL Playoffs.

Thru 4: The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 3-1-0-0 record (6 points) on the season after four games. The ‘Canes are 1-0-0-0 at home and 2-1-0-0 on the road so far this season. In 2022-2023, the Hurricanes had posted a 2-2-0-0 record after four games.
Perfect September: The Hurricanes started the season winning all three games in the month of September to start the year with three straight victories. It was the first time since 2008-2009 that the ‘Canes started a season with a perfect 3-0-0-0 record.
Balanced Attack: After four games on the season, the Hurricanes have scored a total of 16 goals for an average of 4.00 goals per game. Last year, Lethbridge averaged 2.96 goals per game. A total of eight players have recorded three-or-more points so far while all but one skater has at least a point.

Triumphant Return: After returning from the Minnesota Wild’s Training Camp, goaltender Harrison Meneghin was superb on opening weekend. The South Surrey, BC, product made 40-saves on opening night before making 24-saves on Saturday helping the ‘Canes to a 2-0-0-0 start. Meneghin enters tonight with a 1.95 goals against average and a sparkling .941 save percentage.
Pre-Season Leader: Draft eligible forward Miguel Marques had a great pre-season collecting nine points, including four goals and five assists, in four games. Marques finished tied for second in WHL pre-season points while finishing tied for first in the Eastern Conference. He had 20 points (8g-12a) last season.
Gone Pro: On August 10th, the Hurricanes announced that Brent Kisio resigned as head coach after eight years at the helm to accept an assistant coaching job with the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League. Kisio left the ‘Canes as the winningest coach in team history posting a 267-176-44 regular season record while qualifying for the playoffs each season.
New Bench Boss: The Hurricanes announced Bill Peters the 15th head coach in team history on August 30th. Peters, who has served as head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames, returns to the WHL for the first time since 2008. He helped guide the Spokane Chiefs to a WHL and Memorial Cup Championship in 2008 before going to professional hockey. He has posted a 114-93-13 record in the WHL.
