GAME DAY: Hurricanes Return Home to Face Pats
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return home for the first time in 13 days tonight as they welcome the Regina Pats at 7:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
The Hurricanes (26-14-1-1) enter on a season-long seven-game winning streak after sweeping a five-game road trip with a 4-2 win in Spokane against the Chiefs on Saturday. Jordan Gustafson recorded his second career hat-trick in the win while Logan McCutcheon added the game-winning goal; Jackson Unger made 28-saves in the win. The ‘Canes enter with a 15-3-1-0 record at home this season as they will open a three-game homestand tonight.
The Pats (12-25-4-2) enter on a three-game losing streak after suffering a 10-4 loss in Medicine Hat to the Tigers on Tuesday night. Zachary Lansard, Jace Egland, Zach Moore and Caden Brown scored in the defeat while Kelton Pyne made 36-saves on the 46 shots Regina allowed. The Pats are 6-13-3-0 on the road this season having lost their last two games away from home.
Tonight will be the second of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Pats; Lethbridge has posted a 1-0-0-0 record against Regina this season while having won three-straight against the Pats dating back to last season. Thru 42: The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 26-14-1-1 record (54 points) on the season after 42 games. The ‘Canes are 15-3-1-0 at home and 11-11-0-1 on the road so far this season. In 2023-2024, Lethbridge had posted a 21-18-3-0 record after 42 games. The ‘Canes were 21-19-3-0 last year after 43 games.
Seventh Heaven: The ‘Canes earned their seventh straight victory on Saturday with a 4-2 win in Spokane against the Chiefs. It is the longest winning streak for the Hurricanes since March of 2019 when they won eight consecutive games. Lethbridge has allowed two or fewer goals against in six straight contests during the win streak while having outshot the opposition in six of the seven games.
Clutch Up: On January 15th, Logan Wormald completed his first career hat-trick with an overtime winner in a 3-2 win over the Tri-City Americans. The goal was his fourth career overtime winning goal which ranks second all-time in ‘Canes history, trailing Nathan Barrett who had five. Wormald has nine game-winning goals this season which is second most in a single season in the internet era for the Hurricanes behind Tyler Wong (10 – 2016-2017). He has set a new career-high with 25 goals this season.
CSS Ranked: Koen Cleaver was ranked 16th among North American goaltenders by the NHL Central Scouting Service on their Midterm Rankings for the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
