GAME DAY: Hurricanes Pitstop at Home to Face Hitmen
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the ENMAX Centre tonight at 6:00pm as they welcome the Calgary Hitmen
The Hurricanes (23-20-3-0) enter having had their two-game winning streak end on Wednesday with a 6-0 loss to the Swift Current Broncos. It marked the fourth time this season the Hurricanes have been shutout and the second time in the last four games. Lethbridge enters tonight with a record of 14-7-3-0 at home having won their last three home games. Tonight is the second of a stretch of five games in five different cities for the Hurricanes.
The Hitmen (20-18-6-1) enter having earned a 6-5 overtime victory on Friday night in Edmonton against the Oil Kings. Maxim Muranov scored twice while Fraser Leonard, Keets Fawcett and Oliver Tulk added the others in regulation before Carter Yakemchuk scored a power play goal in overtime for the winner; Ethan Buenaventura made 35-saves in the win. Calgary enters with a record of 7-1-3-0 in their last 10 games while posting a 6-12-4-0 record on the road this season.
Tonight will be the fifth of seven meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Hitmen; Lethbridge has posted a 2-1-1-0 record in the previous four meetings this year. Career-High: Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin reached the 20-win plateau for the first time in his career with a 6-1 win over the Regina Pats on January 26th surpassing his previous high of 19 victories set in 2022-2023. Meneghin became just the 14th goaltender in Hurricanes history to reach the 20-win mark. He sits with a 21-13-2-0 record on the season with a 2.48 GAA and a .921 SV % with two shutouts. Meneghin ranks tied for second in the WHL in victories this season.
PP Clickin’: The Hurricanes power play enters tonight sitting in the top-10 overall this year after being ranked last earlier in the season. The ‘Canes man advantage has scored a goal in seven of their last nine games going 10-for-30 (33.3%) in that span. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 37 points (9g-28a) in 44 games with the Hurricanes this season.
