GAME DAY: Hurricanes Open Two-Game Weekend Trip in Medicine Hat Against Tigers
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open a two-game road trip tonight at 7:00pm as they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers at Co-op Place.
The Hurricanes (12-27-0-1) enter on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 6-3 loss to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Wednesday at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Tyden Lafournaise scored twice and added an assist in the game while Carsen Adair potted the other Lethbridge goal. Leif Oaten made 23-saves in the game. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 5-15-0-0 record having lost their last seven road games.
The Tigers (28-6-3-2) enter on a 20-game point streak after earning an 8-3 victory over the Seattle Thunderbirds on Friday night. Medicine Hat scored eight unanswered goals in the contest including a hat-trick by Bryce Pickford. Schaeffer Gordon-Carroll, Kadon McCann, Liam Ruck, Markus Ruck and Kade Stengrim added the others in the win. The Tigers enter with an 18-0-1-1 record in their last 20 outings while having won 16-straight games.
Tonight will be the third of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted an 0-2-0-0 record against Medicine Hat this season while dropping the last 12 meetings (pre-season, regular season and playoffs combined) dating back to last year. Heger, who is ranked as a ‘B’ prospect by NHL Central Scouting has collected 15 points (5g-10a) in 35 games this season while Cozens had led the Hurricanes in scoring with 44 points (17g-27a) leading the team in goals and points.
All Hail Oli: Lethbridge announced the acquisition of 2007-born forward Oli Chenier from the Prince Albert Raiders in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick in 2026 on January 5th. Chenier appeared in 148 regular season games with the Raiders amassing 48 points (17g-31a) over three seasons. The Winnipeg, MB product was originally a third-round draft pick by Prince Albert in 2022.
OT Kings: The ‘Canes enter tonight having posted a perfect 5-0 record this season in games decided in overtime after a 4-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Friday.
