GAME DAY: Hurricanes Open Road Stretch in Swift Current Tonight
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open a five-game road trip on Friday at 6:00pm MT as they visit the Swift Current Broncos at the InnovationPlex.
The Hurricanes (21-14-1-1) enter on a two-game winning streak after earning a 6-2 victory on Tuesday over the Moose Jaw Warriors at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Logan McCutcheon scored twice while Tristen Doyle, Vojtech Port, Logan Wormald and Cameron Norrie added the others; Jackson Unger made 27-saves in the win. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 6-11-0-1 record on the road this year, but are 2-1-0-0 in their last three away from home.
The Broncos (19-17-0-1) enter with a 4-6-0-0 record in their last six games, but are coming off a 5-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers last Saturday. Brady Birnie and Luke Mistelbacher scored the goals in the defeat while Reid Dyck made 30-saves in the loss. Swift Current enters tonight with 13-7-0-0 record on home this season, but are 2-4-0-0 in their last six on home ice.
Tonight will be the final of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Broncos; Lethbridge has posted a 2-1-0-0 record against Swift Current this year with the home team having won all three games. Price is Right: On January 6th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2005-born defenceman Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Will Sharpe, the rights to 2007-born goaltender Harrison Boettiger and five draft picks, including a first-round pick in 2026. Price has appeared in 201 regular season games amassing 148 career points (26g-122a) along with 134 penalty minutes. He is a third-round pick of the Seattle Kraken who represented Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship.
Bronze Finish: Vojtech Port earned a Bronze medal with Czechia at the 2025 World Junior Championship with a 3-2 shootout victory over Sweden. The Jihlava, Czechia product collected four assists in seven games while at the tournament along with a plus-6 rating. It was the second straight year he was named to the Czechia roster, but the first in which he was able to compete after being injured in 2024.
Gus What: On December 27th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2004-born forward Jordan Gustafson from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for overage forward Hayden Pakkala, two third-round draft picks and a fifth-round pick. Gustafson, who won a WHL Championship with the T-Birds in 2023, is a signed NHL prospect of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Unger Stellar: Jackson Unger has been outstanding since joining the Hurricanes. In his nine decisions, the Calgary, AB, product has posted a 8-1-0-0 record with a 2.29 GAA and a .916 SV% while going a perfect
7-0-0-0 in his six decisions on home ice. Unger was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 15th. He has an 12-12-3-1 record on the season with a 3.69 GAA and a .895 SV%.
Ying & Yang: Logan Wormald and Brayden Edwards have combined for 85 points (36g-49a) this season. The duo have assisted on 17 of their 36 goals this year with Edwards assisting on nine of Wormald’s 20 goals and Wormald helping on seven of Edwards’ 16 goals. In their career, Edwards has assists on over 30% of Wormald goals while Wormald has assisted on over 40% of Edwards goals.
