GAME DAY: Hurricanes Open 24-Game Season in Edmonton Tonight
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes begin their 24-game 2021 regular season tonight as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Downtown Community Arena at 7:00pm MT.
The Hurricanes return to action for the first time since March 7, 2020, which spans 356 days. Lethbridge will be led by a strong nucleus of returning players, including both goaltenders Carl Tetachuk and Bryan Thomson, and an influx of young talent.
The Oil Kings, who finished atop the Central Division in 2019-2020, also return a strong collection of their roster from last season. Edmonton has a total of 15 players from last years team, including NHL draft picks Jake Neighbours and Matthew Robertson.
Tonight will be the first of a home-and-home set to begin the new season, and the first of six head-to-head meetings this year. Lethbridge posted a 3-1-0-0 record in the four match-ups last season, including 1-1-0-0 in Edmonton.

VS. EDMONTON OIL KINGS: Tonight will be the first of back-to-back meetings between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings to begin the shortened season. Lethbridge and Edmonton will face off six times this season. Last year, the ‘Canes posted a 3-1-0-0 record in the four games they played, including a 1-1-0-0 record in Edmonton at Rogers Place. Over the last five seasons, the Hurricanes have posted a 17-9-2-0 record against Edmonton while going 38-35-2-3 all-time against the Oil Kings.
