GAME DAY: Hurricanes Make Final Regular Season Trip to Edmonton to Face Oil Kings
Edmonton, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will look for their third-straight victory tonight at 7:00pm as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place.
The Hurricanes (34-16-2-1) enter on a two-game winning streak after a come-from-behind 6-5 overtime win over the Regina Pats on Friday. Anthony Wilson scored twice while Brayden Edwards, Kooper Gizowski and Leo Braillard scored in regulation before Shane Smith scored the overtime winner helping the ‘Canes to their 20th home victory of the season. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 14-11-1-1 road record this season and are 10-1-1-0 in their last 12 away from home.
The Oil Kings (28-20-2-2) enter with a 5-4-1-0 record in their last 10 games after suffering a 3-1 loss on Friday in Red Deer to the Rebels. Gavin Hodnett scored the lone goal for Edmonton in the loss while Alex Worthington made 25-saves in the defeat. The Oil Kings enter tonight with a 17-8-0-1 on home ice this season having won their last two home games.

He is the third highest scoring active player in the WHL trailing Andrew Cristall and Riley Heidt. 30 Again: The Hurricanes earned their 30th victory of the season on February 2nd with a 4-3 victory in Calgary. It marked the ninth-straight season that the ‘Canes have reached the 30-win plateau adding to their team record for consecutive 30-win seasons. The previous long was five-straight seasons from 1989-90 until 1993-94. Lethbridge is on pace for 43 wins this season which would be the seventh most in team history.
Stingy D: The Hurricanes enter play tonight as the second-best defensive team in the entire WHL allowing just 2.75 goals against per game, trailing Everett who ranks first (2.70 GAPG). Lethbridge has allowed three-or-less goals in 17 of 18 games while allowing two-or-less in 13 of those 18 games. The ‘Canes have allowed three-or-less goals against in 26 of their last 30 games.
