GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to Find Road Win in Edmonton Against Oil Kings
Edmonton, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will look to end a two-game losing streak this afternoon as they visit the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place at 12:00pm.
The Hurricanes (2-7-0-0) enter having lost the last two games after suffering a 5-0 defeat to the Red Deer Rebels at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Saturday. It marked the first time this season that the ‘Canes were shutout while Leif Oaten made 31-saves in the defeat. Lethbridge has been outscored 14-4 in their last two games. The Hurricanes enter with a 2-2-0-0 record on the season.
The Oil Kings (6-2-0-0) enter after earning a 4-1 victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday at Rogers Place. Poul Anderson, Miroslav Holinka, Cage Smith and Andrew O’Neill scored in the win while Parker Snell made 16-saves. Edmonton outshot Moose Jaw 45-17 in the contest. The Oil Kings enter today with a 2-0-0-0 record on home ice as they open a stretch of nine of their next 12 games at home.
Today will be the first of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Oil Kings; Lethbridge posted a 4-4-0-0 record against Edmonton last year while going 2-2-0-0 at Rogers Place. The game can be streamed on Victory+, watched at Browns Socialhouse in Lethbridge or heard on 106.7 ROCK.

Good Showing: Rookie forward Easton Daneault led the Hurricanes in scoring during the pre-season amassing seven points (2g-5a) in four games. He finished tied for third in the WHL exhibition scoring race while sitting tied for second in the Eastern Conference. New Bench Boss: Matt Anholt was named the 16th head coach in Hurricanes history on June 25th. Anholt has spent the past seven seasons as an assistant / associate coach with the ‘Canes.
