GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to End Three-Game Home Losing Streak Against Raiders
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continue a three-game homestand tonight as they welcome the Prince Albert Raiders at 7:00pm to the ENMAX Centre.
The Hurricanes (9-7-2-0) enter on a three-game home losing streak after suffering a 3-1 loss on Saturday to the Portland Winterhawks. Kooper Gizowski scored the lone goal in the defeat while Harrison Meneghin made 28-saves. Lethbridge was outshot 31-23 in the game. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 5-2-2-0 record at home but are 0-2-1-0 in their last three at the ENMAX Centre. Lethbridge is 1-2-1-0 against East Division opponents this season.
The Raiders (9-8-0-1) open a seven-game road trip against the Hurricanes tonight. Prince Albert enters on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 5-0 loss on Saturday at home to the Prince George Cougars. The Raiders outshot the Cougars 38-24 in the game despite being shutout for second time this year. Prince Albert has posted a 4-4-0-0 record on the road this season.
Tonight will be the first of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Raiders. Lethbridge posted a 3-1-0-0 record against Prince Albert last year while going 2-0-0-0 at home against the Raiders. Immediate Impact: After being claimed off CHL waivers from the QMJHL’s Shawinigan Cataractes, 2005-born import forward Leo Braillard has been great in seven games for the Hurricanes collecting nine points
(2g-7a). He had two helpers in his ‘Canes debut on November 20th. Braillard has 13 points (5g-8a) in 14 CHL games this season split between Shawinigan and Lethbridge.
Western Opposition: The ‘Canes are in a stretch where they will face Western Conference opponents nine times in a 12 game span. Lethbridge will face Seattle, Everett, Portland and Wenatchee at home before embarking on a five-game BC Division road trip in the middle of November. The Hurricanes had the second-most players listed among WHL teams.
Harry at Home: Hurricanes netminder Harrison Meneghin has been terrific this season, especially at home. The 19-year-old who attended Minnesota Wild training camp in September has posted a 5-2-2-0 record on home-ice this year posting a staggering 1.75 goals against average and a .942 save percentage with two shutouts. Meneghin has posted a 2.27 GAA and a .927 SV% on the season.
Killin’ It: Entering tonight, the Hurricanes have killed off 61 of 72 penalties taken so far this season for a kill rate of 84.7% through the first 18 outings. Last year, the ‘Canes held the eighth-best PK including the top ranked home penalty kill. So far, Lethbridge has the third-best ranked penalty kill in the WHL this year.
