GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to End Losing Streak Against Winterhawks
Kent, WA – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will continue a five-game road trip tonight at 8:00pm MT against the Portland Winterhawks at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Hurricanes (12-7-1-0) enter on a two-game losing streak after falling 4-0 on Wednesday to the Everett Silvertips at the Angel of the Winds Arena. It was the first time this season that the ‘Canes were shutout while Brady Smith made 28-saves in the defeat. Lethbridge enters with a 4-5-0-0 record on the road this season, but are 3-1-0-0 in their last four away from home. The ‘Canes are 1-2-1-0 against Western Conference opponents.
The Winterhawks (10-8-2-0) enter on a two-game winning streak after earning a 6-5 overtime win in Vancouver against the Giants on Saturday. Six different goal scorers lit the lamp for the Winterhawks in the win, including Ryder Thompson who scored the overtime winner; Marek Schlenker made 22-saves in the win. Portland enters with a 3-4-1-0 on home ice this season.
Tonight will be the lone meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Winterhawks; Lethbridge dropped a 3-1 decision in the lone meeting against Portland last season. The game can be streamed on WHL Live, watched at Browns Socialhouse in Lethbridge or heard on 106.7 ROCK.

VS. WINTERHAWKS: Tonight will be the only meeting of the season between the Hurricanes and Winterhawks. Last season, Lethbridge suffered a 3-1 loss to Portland at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. The ‘Canes have posted an all-time 20-21-2-0 record with five ties against the Winterhawks while going 7-14-0-0 with two ties all-time in the Rose City. Lethbridge is 3-3-0-0 in the last six meetings against the Portland dating back to the 2016-2017 season.

His 251 career games for the Hurricanes ranks him tied for 18th all-time in team history in games played – one game shy of matching Calen Addison and Mark Smith for 17th all-time. The former third-round draft pick (60th overall) in the 2019 draft is also ranked eighth all-time in defenceman scoring in ‘Canes history sitting two points back of Terry Hollinger (126) for seventh in team history.
Trade Winds: The Hurricanes acquired 2005-born import defenceman Vojtech Port on November 15th from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for 2006-born rearguard Ryder Ellis, a second-round draft pick (2027) and a third-round draft pick (2025). Port, who is drafted by the Anaheim Ducks, has appeared in 109 career regular season games in the WHL totaling 35 points (8g-27a) along with 41 penalty minutes.
Gone Streakin’: Brayden Edwards had a career-long 11-game point streak end on Wednesday in Everett. He racked up 18 points (7g-11a) on his streak. The Abbotsford, BC, product was the first Hurricane to register points in 10-or-more games since Oliver Okuliar had both a 10 and 11-game point streak in 2019-2020.
