GAME DAY: Hurricanes Look to Bounce Back, Open 3-in-3 Against Rebels
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open their lone three-in-three weekend tonight at 7:00pm as they welcome the Red Deer Rebels to the ENMAX Centre on Fan Appreciation Night.
The Hurricanes (30-28-5-0) enter having lost two of their last three games after suffering a 6-1 defeat on Wednesday at home to the Edmonton Oil Kings. Lethbridge outshot Edmonton in the loss while Brayden Edwards scored the lone goal; Brady Smith made 15-saves. The Hurricanes enter play with a 6-3-0-0 record in their last nine games as they have posted a 17-10-5-0 record at home this year. Lethbridge sits eighth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Rebels (33-22-2-6) enter on a three-game winning streak after earning 5-2 win over the Calgary Hitmen on Saturday at the Peavey Mart Centrium. Dwayne Jean Jr. scored twice while Hunter Mayo, Talon Brigley and Matthew Gard added the others in the win; Rhett Stoesser made 23-saves. Red Deer enters having clinched a playoff berth as they sit fifth in the Eastern Conference. The Rebels have posted a 12-11-2-6 record on the road this year.
Tonight will be the fifth of six meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Rebels; Lethbridge has posted a 2-2-0-0 record against Red Deer in the first four meetings while the home team has won all four games this year. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 52 points (11g-41a) in 61 games with the Hurricanes this season. He became the first ‘Canes defenceman to record 50+ points in a season since Alex Cotton (67) and Calen Addison (52) accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 regular season.
