GAME DAY: Hurricanes Host Warriors in First of Two Meetings This Week
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes return to the VisitLethbridge.com Arena tonight as they welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00pm.
The Hurricanes (20-14-1-1) enter after a come-from-behind 4-3 shootout win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday afternoon at Rogers Place. Logan McCutcheon, Leo Braillard and Logan Wormald scored in the final 8:52 of regulation to force extra time before Brayden Edwards scored the shootout winner in the sixth-round of the shootout. Koen Cleaver made 31-saves in the win. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 3-3-0-0 record since returning from the Christmas break and are 14-3-1-0 on home ice this season.
The Warriors (10-22-3-2) enter on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 4-2 loss to the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday. Ethan Semeniuk scored both goals in the loss for Moose Jaw while Brady Smith made 30-saves. The Warriors enter tonight with a 4-5-0-1 record in their last 10 games while having gone 5-12-3-0 on the road this season.
Tonight will be the fourth of five meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors; Lethbridge has posted a 3-0-0-0 record so far having gone 2-0-0-0 at home this year. VS. WARRIORS: Tonight will be the fourth of five meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors. Lethbridge has posted a 3-0-0-0 record so far this season against Moose Jaw after going 3-2-0-0 in five meetings last year. Thru 36: The Hurricanes enter tonight with a 20-14-1-1 record (42 points) on the season after 36 games. The ‘Canes are 14-3-1-0 at home and 6-11-0-1 on the road so far this season. In 2023-2024, Lethbridge had posted a 18-15-3-0 record after 36 games. The ‘Canes were 18-16-3-0 last year after 37 games.
Price is Right: On January 6th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2005-born defenceman Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for 2007-born defenceman Will Sharpe, the rights to 2007-born goaltender Harrison Boettiger and five draft picks, including a first-round pick in 2026. Price has appeared in 201 regular season games amassing 148 career points (26g-122a) along with 134 penalty minutes. He is a third-round pick of the Seattle Kraken who represented Canada at the 2025 World Junior Championship.
Bronze Finish: Vojtech Port earned a Bronze medal with Czechia at the 2025 World Junior Championship with a 3-2 shootout victory over Sweden. The Jihlava, Czechia product collected four assists in seven games while at the tournament along with a plus-6 rating. It was the second straight year he was named to the Czechia roster, but the first in which he was able to compete after being injured in 2024.
Gus What: On December 27th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2004-born forward Jordan Gustafson from the Seattle Thunderbirds in exchange for overage forward Hayden Pakkala, two third-round draft picks and a fifth-round pick. Gustafson, who won a WHL Championship with the T-Birds in 2023, is a signed NHL prospect of the Vegas Golden Knights.
Unger Stellar: Jackson Unger has been outstanding since joining the Hurricanes. In his eight decisions, the Calgary, AB, product has posted a 7-1-0-0 record with a 2.32 GAA and a .914 SV% while going a perfect
6-0-0-0 in his six decisions on home ice. Unger was named the WHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 15th. He has an 11-12-3-1 record on the season with a 3.75 GAA and a .893 SV%.
Ying & Yang: Logan Wormald and Brayden Edwards have combined for 79 points (35g-44a) this season. The duo have assisted on 17 of their 35 goals this year with Edwards assisting on nine of Wormald’s 18 goals and Wormald helping on seven of Edwards’ 16 goals. In their career, Edwards has assists on 30.1% of Wormald goals (51.4% of his goals over the last two years) while Wormald has assisted on 40.3% of Edwards goals. 2024 In Review: The ‘Canes ended the 2024 calendar year on Monday with a 2-1 victory over the Red Deer Rebels. Lethbridge improved to 19-12-1-1 during the 2024-2025 regular season with the win. The Hurricanes ended the calendar year of 2024 with a 35-25-5-1 record in 66 games during the year.
