GAME DAY: Hurricanes Host Warriors for Wiener Dog Wednesday Finale
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes open a two-game homestand tonight as they welcome the Moose Jaw Warriors at 7:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena for the Wiener Dog Wednesday Finale.
The Hurricanes (16-38-2-1) enter on a five-game losing streak after suffering a 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday in Medicine Hat to the Tigers at Co-op Place. Tyden Lafournaise, Easton Daneault and Oli Chenier scored in the loss while Leif Oaten made 32-saves. It was Lethbridge’s second overtime loss in the last five games falling to 0-3-2-0 in that span. The ‘Canes enter tonight with a 10-17-0-1 record at home this year.
The Warriors (19-32-5-2) enter on a season-long nine-game losing streak after falling 5-4 in Calgary to the Hitmen on Tuesday afternoon at Scotiabank Saddledome. Ethan Semeniuk, Landen McFadden, Riley Thorpe and Nolan Paquette scored in the loss while Chase Wutzke made 36-saves. The defeat dropped the Warriors record to 1-8-1-0 in their last ten games while slipping to 2-12-2-0 in their last 16 games. Moose Jaw enters with a 10-16-2-1 on the road this season.
Tonight will be the third of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Warriors; Lethbridge has posted a 1-1-0-0 record against Moose Jaw this season. Midterm Ranked: Three Hurricanes players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting on the Midterm Rankings on January 12th. Kyle Heger (67th), Gavin Lesiuk (177th) and Nathan Maloney (220th) were all ranked among North American skaters. Of the three, Maloney was the lone player not ranked by Central Scouting on the Preliminary Players to Watch List in October.
