GAME DAY: Hurricanes Host Raiders on Wall of Honour Night
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes welcome the Prince Albert Raiders tonight at 7:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Wall of Honour Night.
The Hurricanes (30-16-1-1) enter with a 8-2-0-0 record in their last ten games after a 4-3 victory on Sunday in Calgary against the Hitmen. Brayden Yager had a hat-trick while Luke Cozens scored the other in the win while Jackson Unger made 27-saves. Lethbridge enters with a 13-3-0-0 record against the East Division while posting a 17-5-1-0 record on home ice this season despite dropping their last two home games.
The Raiders (27-16-3-1) enter having posted a 8-1-0-1 record in their last ten games suffering their first regulation loss in that span on Wednesday with a 3-1 defeat in Calgary to the Hitmen. Ethan Bibeau scored the only goal in the defeat while Max Hildebrand made 33-saves in the loss. Prince Albert enters with a 12-10-0-1 record on the road this season while having posted a 2-3-0-1 in their last six on the road.
Tonight will be the second of four meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Raiders; Lethbridge has posted an 0-1-0-0 record against Prince Albert this season while having gone 1-3-0-1 in their last five against the Raiders. 300 Club: On February 2nd in Calgary, Brayden Yager reached the 300-point mark in his WHL career with his fourth career hat-trick. The Winnipeg Jets prospect became the 170th player in WHL history to reach the 300-point plateau having amassed 301 points (122g-179a) in 246 career games. He is the third highest scoring active player in the WHL trailing Andrew Cristall and Riley Heidt.
30 Again: The Hurricanes earned their 30th victory of the season on February 2nd with a 4-3 victory in Calgary. It marked the ninth-straight season that the ‘Canes have reached the 30-win plateau adding to their team record for consecutive 30-win seasons. The previous long was five-straight seasons from 1989-90 until 1993-94. Lethbridge is on pace for 43 wins this season which would be the seventh most in team history.
20+ Back-to-Back: Overage forward Brayden Edwards scored his 20th goal of the season on January 26th in Edmonton marking the second straight season he has scored 20-or-more goals in two straight seasons after recording 31 goals in 2023-2024. He became the first ‘Cane to score 20+ goals in consecutive seasons since Jett Jones in 2021-2022 (20 goals) and 2022-2023 (21 goals). Dylan Cozens (34 in 2018-2019, 38 in 2019-2020) was the last Hurricane to score 30+ goals in back-to-back seasons.
Stingy D: The Hurricanes enter play tonight as the second-best defensive team in the entire WHL allowing just 2.85 goals against per game, trailing Everett who ranks first (2.67 GAPG). Lethbridge has allowed three-or-less goals in 13-straight games while allowing two-or-less in 10 of those games. The ‘Canes have allowed three-or-less goals against in 22 of their last 25 games.
