GAME DAY: Hurricanes Host Hitmen in Homestand Finale
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes welcome the Calgary Hitmen tonight at 6:00pm at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena in the final of a four-game homestand.
The Hurricanes (10-18-0-1) enter having earned a 2-1 victory on Friday over the Wenatchee Wild in their annual Teddy Bear Toss game. Kayden Longley scored the teddy goal while Grady Pichette scored his first WHL goal as the game-winner. Leif Oaten was outstanding making 36-saves in the victory. Lethbridge enters tonight with a 7-6-0-0 record in their last 13 games while having gone 5-3-0-1 in their last nine home games. The ‘Canes overall home record is 5-8-0-1 on the season.
The Hitmen (13-8-3-1) enter after ending a six-game losing streak on Friday with a 3-2 win over the Prince Albert Raiders at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Calgary scored three unanswered goals in the win as Wyatt Pisarczyk, Kale Dach and Calder Hamilton scored in the win. Eric Tu made 29-saves in the victory. The Hitmen enter play with a 7-2-2-1 record on the road this season.
Tonight will be the fifth of eight meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Hitmen; Lethbridge has posted a 2-2-0-0 record against Calgary so far this year. The Hurricanes will host Santa and Mrs. Claus during the game as fans are encouraged to wear their Ugly Christmas Sweater to the game. Lethbridge will host a post-game skate with the ‘Canes following the contest. VS. HITMEN: Tonight will be the fifth of eight head-to-head meetings between the Hurricanes and Hitmen. So far this season, Lethbridge has posted a 2-2-0-0 record against Calgary while having gone 2-5-1-0 in eight meetings during the 2024-2025 season. The Hurricanes defeated the Hitmen in seven games in the second-round of the WHL Playoffs last spring. Homecoming: The ‘Canes are in the midst of a four-game homestand which ties their longest homestand of the season. The Hurricanes have posted a 5-3-0-1 record in their last nine games on home-ice at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Road Trip Wrap: Lethbridge ended a season-long seven-game road trip last Friday with a 6-2 loss in Prince George to the Cougars. The Hurricanes ended their trip with a 3-4-0-0 record while posting a 3-3-0-0 record through six games in British Columbia. In total, the ‘Canes traveled over 5,000 kilometres on their 13-day road trip which is a longer distance than traveling from Los Angeles to New York City.
November Reflections: The Hurricanes ended their 11-game month of November with a 6-5-0-0 record ending the month with a 6-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on November 28th. The ‘Canes posted a record of 3-1-0-0 at home and a 3-4-0-0 record on the road during the month. Lethbridge averaged 3.82 goals per game during the month which is a 0.61 goals per game increase from their season average.
Big Trade: On November 9th, the Hurricanes acquired 2006-born forward Kayden Longley, prospect Grayson Bauer along with five draft picks including a conditional first-round pick in 2026 from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for overage forward Shane Smith and the WHL rights to 2007-born import forward Vojtech Cihar. He made his ‘Canes debut on November 12th in Penticton; since joining the Hurricanes, Longley has collected seven points (2g-5a) in eight games.
Tremendous Duo: Logan Wormald and Luke Cozens have combined for 28 goals and 68 points this season for the Hurricanes. The duo has combined to score 31.1% of Lethbridge’s goals this season. Both Cozens and Wormald enter tonight sitting in the top-17 in WHL scoring.
