GAME DAY: Hurricanes Continue Trip in Brandon
Brandon, MB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will continue a six-game road trip tonight at 6:00pm MT as they visit the Brandon Wheat Kings in the first of back-to-back games at Westoba Place.
The Hurricanes (12-10-0-1) enter having suffered a 3-2 loss in Winnipeg to the ICE on Wednesday night. Miguel Marques and Jett Jones scored in the win while Bryan Thomson made 18-saves in the defeat. The loss for the ‘Canes dropped their record to 1-1-0-0 on the road trip and 5-6-0-0 away from home this season. Lethbridge is 7-2-0-1 in their last ten games.
The Wheat Kings (8-13-2-0) enter having earned a 4-2 win in their last game on Saturday in Red Deer over the Rebels. Nate Danielson scored twice, including the game-winner, while Brett Hyland and Nolan Ritchie scored the others in the victory. Brandon will open a four-game homestand tonight; Wheat Kings are 2-5-2-0 this season at home.
Tonight will be the second of four games this season between the Hurricanes and Wheat Kings. Lethbridge has posted an 0-1-0-0 record against Brandon this season and have lost six-straight to the Wheat Kings. Coach Canada: Hurricanes head coach Brent Kisio has been named as an assistant coach for Team Canada at the upcoming 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Halifax and Moncton. Kisio served as the assistant coach for the National Junior Team in 2019. He has coached for Canada multiple times at the U17, U18 and U20 levels, highlighted by a gold medal as head coach at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in 2018.
After 2: The ‘Canes have posted a 10-1-0-0 record when leading after forty minutes. Lethbridge dropped a 4-2 decision to Edmonton on Saturday marking the first time in over five years that they lost in regulation when leading after two periods. Prior to Saturday, Lethbridge had gone 90-0-5-3 when leading after forty.
