Five Hurricanes Named to NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings

Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Friday that Miguel Marques, Brayden Edwards, Trae Wilke, Landen Ward and Harrison Meneghin have been named to the National Hockey League’s Central Scouting Service Midterm Rankings.

Marques, 17, was ranked 33^rd among North American skaters by Central Scouting. The Prince George, BC, product was drafted by the Hurricanes in the first-round (10^th overall) in the 2021 Western Hockey League Prospects Draft. He has racked up a career-high 45 points (17g-28a) along with 28 penalty minutes this season sitting first in team scoring. Marques has appeared in 107 career games with the ‘Canes totaling 71 points (27g-44a) and 65 penalty minutes. He was ranked a ‘C’ skater on the Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list in October.

Edwards, 19, ranked 187^th among North American skaters. The Abbotsford, BC, product has shattered his previous career highs in goals and points this season. The 6’1, 185-pound centre has collected 41 points (18g-23a) along with 16 penalty minutes and a team-best plus-15 rating; he sits third in team scoring while sitting second in goals for the Hurricanes. Edwards was acquired by Lethbridge during the 2021-2022 season from the Winnipeg ICE. He was drafted in the sixth-round (127^th overall) in the 2019 WHL Draft.

Wilke, 17, ranked 190^th among North American skaters by Central Scouting. The Saskatoon, SK, product was selected by the Hurricanes in the second-round (29^th overall) in the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft. This season, the 6’0, 190-pound forward has collected 19 points (7g-12a) along with 12 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 73 career WHL games with the ‘Canes totaling 27 points (10g-17a) along with 28 penalty minutes. He was ranked a ‘C’ skater on the Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list in October.

Ward, 17, finished 192^nd among North American skaters. The Lloydminster, AB, product has skated in 37 games this season for the Hurricanes registering five points (2g-3a) along with a team-high 71 penalty minutes. The 6’3, 205-pound forward was drafted by the ‘Canes in the fourth-round (83^rd overall) in the 2021 WHL Draft. He was ranked a ‘C’ skater on the Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list in October.

Meneghin, 19, was placed 26^th among North American goaltenders. The South Surrey, BC, product has posted a record of 17-10-2-0 on the season in 30 games with a 2.41 goals against average and a .922 save percentage with two shutouts. The 6’3, 170-pound netminder was undrafted in the WHL Draft and signed by the Hurricanes in 2021. Meneghin sits third in the WHL in games played this season while sitting tied for second in victories. He attended Minnesota Wild training camp in September while being given a ‘W’ ranking on the Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch list in October.

A total of 60 WHL players were ranked by NHL Central Scouting Service in the Midterm Rankings including: 37 forwards, 15 defencemen and eight goaltenders.

The 2024 NHL Entry Draft is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas on June 28^th and 29^th, 2024.
