Anholt Named Assistant Coach for World Under-17 Hockey Challenge
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club are proud to announce that Hockey Canada has named ‘Canes Associate Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Matt Anholt will serve on the hockey staff for the 2024 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Anholt, 30, will serve as an Assistant Coach for Team Canada Red at the U17 tournament. It marks the second consecutive year that he will serve in that role. The Prince Albert, SK, product was promoted to Associate Head Coach and Assistant General Manager by the Hurricanes in June. Anholt has served in various coaching roles, including Skills & Development Coach, Assistant Coach, Assistant Coach & Assistant General Manager, over his six seasons with the Hurricanes.
Previously to joining the ‘Canes as a Skills & Development Coach in 2018-2019, Anholt spent four seasons playing at the University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA) when he served as Captain for the final two seasons. Prior to playing at the University level, he spent two seasons with the British Columbia Hockey League’s West Kelowna Warriors, serving as Captain in his final year.
