2024 ENMAX Training Camp – Day 3 Recap
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes continued their 2024 ENMAX Training Camp with Day 3 at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Saturday.
Day 3 of the ‘Canes camp mirrored the first two days with the schedule. The two groups played their lone scrimmage at 4:00pm with Team Blue earning their first victory of camp defeating Team Red 4-2. It was a battle of the Hurricanes incumbent goaltenders from last year as Harrison Meneghin started for Team Blue while Brady Smith got the nod for Team Red. At the 8:38 mark, Team Blue opened the scoring when Kash Andresen jammed home a loose puck at the side of the goal for his first camp to make it a 1-0 lead; Brayden Edwards earned the only assist on the goal. Team Blue doubled their lead just under three minutes later when Luke Cozens snapped home his first of camp in his first game at the 11:37 mark to make it 2-0; Cooper Sydor and Bradley Schmidt picked up the assists on the goal. Just 20-seconds later, Team Red got on the board when Miguel Marques ripped home his first of camp on a breakaway cutting the lead to 2-1; Cameron Norrie and Tristen Doyle picked up the assists on the goal. Shots favoured Team Blue 11-9 in the first period.
Early in the second period, Team Red had an opportunity to pull even when Kale Tipler was assessed a slashing penalty for Team Blue, but they failed to capitalize on the power play. Team Red tied the game at the 7:38 mark when Eric Berger buried his third goal of the camp beating Meneghin short-side high on a two-on-one to make it 2-2; Grady McNish and Dawson Spence were credited with the assists on the goal. Team Blue pulled back in front on a three-way passing play before Chase Petersen snuck a wrist shot low blocker for his second goal in three games during camp making it a 3-2 hockey game; Easton Daneault and Noah Chadwick earned the assists. Late in the period, Team Blue restored their two-goal lead as Daneault wired a shot off a faceoff to make it 4-2; Hayden Iron Shirt was credited with the lone assist. Team Red pulled the goaltender late, but couldn’t chip into the lead as Team Blue hung on for their first victory of training camp taking Game 3 by a 4-2 score.
