Calgary, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen \u00a0have been eliminated from the 2026 WHL playoffs falling to the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2.<\/p>\n

Medicine Hat opened the scoring six minutes in with a goal from Noah Davidson. Calgary wasted no time evening the score with Blake Vanek scoring his first goal of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The second period saw the Tigers regain the lead with Vasi Vaisanen and Jonas Woo scoring to make it 3-1. Ethan Moore would score five minutes into the third period to put the Hitmen within one. It. Would be the veteran\u2019s eighth consecutive playoff goal. Kaden Stengrim and Ethan Neutens would both score for the Tigers to seal the 5-2 victory and take the series.<\/p>\n

HITMEN HEADLINES:<\/strong> After a day off, the Eastern Conference Semi-Final series between the Calgary Hitmen and Medicine Hat Tigers resumes tonight with Game 4 in the Stampede City.\u00a0 It\u2019s a 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.\u00a0 Be sure to take advantage of the $6 food and drink 60-minute Hitmen Happy Hour, which begins when doors open at 6:00 p.m.\u00a0 Fans can also watch for FREE on Victory+ or listen on Sportsnet 960 The Fan.\u00a0 The 2026 WHL Playoffs are presented by Nutrien.\u00a0 The Tigers lead the best-of-seven series 3-0 after a 5-2 road victory on Monday night.\u00a0 Liam Ruck led the charge for the visitors, scoring a hat-trick while his twin brother Markus counted the game winner, giving the Tigers a 3-2 second period lead at 11:51.\u00a0 Ethan Moore on the power play, and Wyatt Pisarczyk at even strength, both scored for the Hitmen pushing the home side out to first period leads of 1-0 and 2-1.\u00a0 Calgary outshot the Tigers 36-29 but were unable to find the tying goal in the third period before Medicine Hat found the empty net twice.<\/p>\n

MEDICINE HAT: <\/strong>The Hitmen and Tigers met eight times during the regular season. Calgary posted a record of 1-4-2-1 including a 1-1-2-0 record at the \u2018Dome. Four of their last five meetings were decided by just a single goal.\u00a0 Harrison Lodewyk (3g, 2a), Andrei Molgachev (4g, 1a) and Kale Dach (1g, 4a) led the Hitmen with five points each while Julien Maze (2g, 2a), Rylan Ng (3g, 1a), Luc Trevors (2g, 2a) Landon Amrheim (1g, 3a), Ben MacBeath (1g, 3a) and Ethan Moore (1g, 3a) all notched four.\u00a0 Markus Ruck (3g, 11a) was the top performing Tiger with 14 points.\u00a0 Yaroslav Bryzgalov (4g, 5a) and Liam Ruck (4g, 5a) were next with nine points each.\u00a0 Overall, Medicine Hat outshot Calgary 256-228.\u00a0 The Hitmen scored six powerplay goals and the Tigers counted seven.<\/p>\n

BETWEEN THE PIPES: <\/strong>Hitmen goaltender Eric Tu is fourth in the WHL Playoffs in goals against average (2.20) and tied for fourth in save percentage (.925) with Michal Orsulak of the Prince Albert Raiders.<\/p>\n

WHL AWARDS:<\/strong> Hitmen teammates Ben MacBeath and Kale Dach are both Eastern Conference nominees for WHL Rookie of the Year.\u00a0 Axel Hurtig is up for WHL Humanitarian of the Year while Dustin Friesen is a nominee for WHL Coach of the Year with GM Garry Davidson up for WHL Executive of the Year.<\/p>\n

ALL-STAR SEASON: <\/strong>Hitmen forward Kale Dach has been named to the WHL\u2019s Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team.\u00a0 Dach, who also took home Hitmen Player of the Year honours and the 3-Star Award this season, finished the regular season second in team scoring with 75 points (34g, 41a) in 63 games.<\/p>\n

2015: <\/strong>CGY 4 MH 1 Rd2<\/u>: Travis Sanheim led the Hitmen with seven points (3g, 4a) including the double overtime series winner in Game 5.\u00a0 Adam Tambellini (2g, 4a) was next with six points while goaltender Mack Shields posted a .942 save percentage.\u00a0 Dryden Hunt (4g, 1a) topped the Tigers with five points.<\/p>\n

2010:<\/strong> CGY 4 MH 2 Rd2<\/u>: Kris Foucault (5g, 3a) powered the Hitmen with eight points including the series winner in overtime.\u00a0 Joel Broda (5g, 1a), Tyler Shattock (3g, 3a) and Brandon Kozun (2g, 4a) all had six points each with Martin Jones posting a 2.17 goals against average.<\/p>\n

Calgary, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen returned to Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Medicine Hat Tigers, falling 5-2 and now facing elimination.<\/p>\n

Scoring got off to a quick start with Ethan Moore scoring his eighth goal of the playoffs just 1:04 into the game. Medicine Hat would have a quick response, with Liam Ruck finding the back of the net just 15 seconds later. Wyatt Pisarczyk scored his first career playoff goal to return the Calgary lead heading into the second period. The Tigers shifted momentum in the middle frame with Liam and Markus Ruck both scoring for Medicine Hat to grab their first lead of the game.<\/p>\n

The third period would go scoreless until Calgary had the empty net in the final two minutes. Liam Ruck would net one to complete his hat trick, while Ethan Neutens would follow up with an empty net of his own to make the final 5-2.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen were in Medicine Hat for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal, where the Tigers took a 2-0 series lead with a 4-3 victory.<\/p>\n

    Calgary struck early, with Caine Wilke opening the scoring for his first goal of the playoffs. Just five minutes later, Keaton Jundt capitalized on a breakaway to make it 2-0. Medicine Hat responded quickly, with Kadon McCann netting his first of the game. Ethan Moore then restored Calgary\u2019s two goal lead, scoring his seventh of the postseason.<\/p>\n

    The second period belonged to Medicine Hat, who evened the score with goals from Kaden Stengrim and Jonas Woo. Early in the third, Josh Van Mulligan found the back of the net to give the Tigers their first lead of the night. They held would hold on the rest of the way to secure the 4-3 win.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen opened the Eastern Conference semifinal in Medicine Hat on Friday night. Despite a late equalizer to force overtime, Calgary fell 3-22 in extra time.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat opened the scoring late in the second period, with Kade Stengrim finding the back of the net. Calgary responded quickly, less than a minute later, with Kale Dach tipping in a shot from Hunter Aura to tie the game heading into the third.<\/p>\n

    The home side regained the lead early in the final frame, with Bryce Pickford scoring on the power play just 1:41 in. At the 11:39 mark, Ethan Moore netted his sixth goal of the playoffs to even things up and send the game to overtime.<\/p>\n

    With just one minute remaining in the first overtime period, Pickford struck again with his second of the night to secure the win for Medicine Hat and give them a 1\u20130 series lead. Eric Tu was solid in goal, stopping 40 shots and earning third star honours.<\/p>\n

Calgary posted a record of 1-4-2-1 with four of their last five meetings decided by just a single goal. Harrison Lodewyk (3g, 2a), Andrei Molgachev (4g, 1a) and Kale Dach (1g, 4a) led the Hitmen with five points each while Julien Maze (2g, 2a), Rylan Ng (3g, 1a), Luc Trevors (2g, 2a) Landon Amrheim (1g, 3a), Ben MacBeath (1g, 3a) and Ethan Moore (1g, 3a) all notched four.\u00a0 Markus Ruck (3g, 11a) was the top performing Tiger with 14 points.\u00a0 Yaroslav Bryzgalov (4g, 5a) and Liam Ruck (4g, 5a) were next with nine points each.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
