Calgary, AB<\/span>\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen selected a total of eight players at the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft, held by the league office online on Thursday. In all, the Hitmen selected five forwards, twodefencemen and one goaltender.<\/p>\n

The Hitmen traded up in the second round to select goaltender Owen Ryan 36th<\/span> overall with their first pick. Ryan is a 6\u20192 goaltender from White Bear Lake, Minnesota who recorded a 0.949 SV% and 1.34 GAA in 23 games played as an underage player in Minnesota High School Hockey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled with the quality of prospects we have added to our organization at all positions.\u201d said Calgary Hitmen Director of Scouting Gary Michalick. \u201cDespite not owning a first-round pick, we were able to add talented prospects from both Canada and U.S. that were very high on our draft board. This draft class has the potential to be a core group of Hitmen players moving forward. We\u2019re excited to welcome these players and their families to Calgary and look forward to seeing the impact they\u2019ll make.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Calgary, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen \u00a0have been eliminated from the 2026 WHL playoffs falling to the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-2.<\/p>\n

Medicine Hat opened the scoring six minutes in with a goal from Noah Davidson. Calgary wasted no time evening the score with Blake Vanek scoring his first goal of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The second period saw the Tigers regain the lead with Vasi Vaisanen and Jonas Woo scoring to make it 3-1. Ethan Moore would score five minutes into the third period to put the Hitmen within one. It. Would be the veteran\u2019s eighth consecutive playoff goal. Kaden Stengrim and Ethan Neutens would both score for the Tigers to seal the 5-2 victory and take the series.<\/p>\n

Calgary, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen returned to Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Medicine Hat Tigers, falling 5-2 and now facing elimination.<\/p>\n

Scoring got off to a quick start with Ethan Moore scoring his eighth goal of the playoffs just 1:04 into the game. Medicine Hat would have a quick response, with Liam Ruck finding the back of the net just 15 seconds later. Wyatt Pisarczyk scored his first career playoff goal to return the Calgary lead heading into the second period. The Tigers shifted momentum in the middle frame with Liam and Markus Ruck both scoring for Medicine Hat to grab their first lead of the game.<\/p>\n

The third period would go scoreless until Calgary had the empty net in the final two minutes. Liam Ruck would net one to complete his hat trick, while Ethan Neutens would follow up with an empty net of his own to make the final 5-2.<\/p>\n
