HITMEN HEADLINES:<\/strong> The Eastern Conference Semi-Final series between the Calgary Hitmen and Medicine Hat Tigers shifts to the Stampede City tonight for Game 3.\u00a0 Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome.\u00a0 Be sure to take advantage of the $6 food and drink 60-minute Hitmen Happy Hour, which begins when doors open at 6:00 p.m.\u00a0 Fans can also watch for FREE on Victory+ or listen on Sportsnet 960 The Fan.\u00a0 The 2026 WHL Playoffs are presented by Nutrien.\u00a0 The Tigers lead the best-of-seven series 2-0 after a 4-3 home ice regulation win on Saturday night.\u00a0 Defenceman Josh Van Muligan scored the game-winner, breaking a 3-3 tie 4:30 into the third period.\u00a0 The Hitmen who built first period leads of 2-0 and 3-1 received their goals from Caine Wilke, Keaton Jundt and Ethan Moore.\u00a0 Wilke and Moore both added an assist for a team leading two points each.\u00a0 Calgary outshot Medicine Hat 30-24 and went 1-3 on the power play.\u00a0 The Tigers were 0-1.<\/p>\n

GAME 2 STATS: <\/strong>Ethan Moore and Kale Dale led the Hitmen with four shots on goal each Saturday night.\u00a0 Hunter Aura, Blake Vanek, Caine Wilke and Luc Trevors were all next with three shots a piece.\u00a0 Five Tigers shared the Medicine Hat lead with three shots each.\u00a0 In the face-off circle, Calgary went a combined 29-54 on draws, clicking at 53.7%.\u00a0 Harrison Lodewyk led the charge with 10 face-off wins.<\/p>\n

SERIES STATS: <\/strong>Ethan Moore (2g, 1a) and Caine Wilke (1g, 2a) are tied for the Hitmen lead in scoring with three points each.\u00a0 Kale Dach (1g, 1a) is next with two.\u00a0 Medicine Hat has been led by Bryce Pickford (2g, 1a), Kade Stengrim (1g, 2a) and Jonas Woo (1g, 2a) at three points each.\u00a0 The Tigers have outshot the Hitmen by a combined 67-59.\u00a0 On the special teams front, Calgary is 1-5 on the powerplay (20%) with Medicine Hat 1-4 (25%).\u00a0 Of the 139 total minutes played this series Calgary has held the lead for 19 minutes and 42 seconds with Medicine Hat in front for 15 minutes and 30 seconds.<\/p>\n

REMEMBER WHEN? <\/strong>Last season in the 2025 WHL Playoffs, the Hitmen dropped the first two games of their second round series with Lethbridge.\u00a0 Calgary then responded to take Game 3 by a score of 5-3.\u00a0 Carson Wetsch led the way with a hat-trick while David Adaszynski, and Axel Hurtig added singles in the victory.\u00a0 The Hurricanes outshot the Hitmen 29-23, but goaltender Anders Miller made 26 saves to pick up the win.<\/p>\n

REGULAR SEASON REWIND: <\/strong>The Hitmen finished the regular season as the #4 seed in the WHL\u2019s Eastern Conference posting a record of 38-21-8-1, good for 85 points.\u00a0 Medicine Hat was the #2 seed with 108 points after going 50-10-5-3.<\/p>\n

  1. MEDICINE HAT:\u00a0<\/strong>The Hitmen and Tigers met eight times during the regular season. Calgary posted a record of 1-4-2-1 including a 1-1-2-0 record at the \u2018Dome. Four of their last five meetings were decided by just a single goal.\u00a0 Harrison Lodewyk (3g, 2a), Andrei Molgachev (4g, 1a) and Kale Dach (1g, 4a) led the Hitmen with five points each while Julien Maze (2g, 2a), Rylan Ng (3g, 1a), Luc Trevors (2g, 2a) Landon Amrheim (1g, 3a), Ben MacBeath (1g, 3a) and Ethan Moore (1g, 3a) all notched four.\u00a0 Markus Ruck (3g, 11a) was the top performing Tiger with 14 points.\u00a0 Yaroslav Bryzgalov (4g, 5a) and Liam Ruck (4g, 5a) were next with nine points each.\u00a0 Overall, Medicine Hat outshot Calgary 256-228.\u00a0 The Hitmen scored six powerplay goals and the Tigers counted seven.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    BETWEEN THE PIPES: <\/strong>Hitmen goaltender Eric Tu is fourth in the WHL Playoffs in goals against average (2.08) and tied for fourth in save percentage (.930)<\/p>\n

    WHL AWARDS:<\/strong> Hitmen teammates Ben MacBeath and Kale Dach are both Eastern Conference nominees for WHL Rookie of the Year.\u00a0 Axel Hurtig is up for WHL Humanitarian of the Year while Dustin Friesen is a nominee for WHL Coach of the Year with GM Garry Davidson up for WHL Executive of the Year.<\/p>\n

    ALL-STAR SEASON: <\/strong>Hitmen forward Kale Dach has been named to the WHL\u2019s Eastern Conference Second All-Star Team.\u00a0 Dach, who also took home Hitmen Player of the Year honours and the 3-Star Award this season, finished the regular season second in team scoring with 75 points (34g, 41a) in 63 games.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    PLAYOFF DATA: <\/strong>This is the fourth time in WHL history but just the first time in 11 seasons there is a Hitmen\/Tigers playoff series.\u00a0 Calgary has won twice.<\/p>\n

    2015: <\/strong>CGY 4 MH 1 Rd2<\/u>: Travis Sanheim led the Hitmen with seven points (3g, 4a) including the double overtime series winner in Game 5.\u00a0 Adam Tambellini (2g, 4a) was next with six points while goaltender Mack Shields posted a .942 save percentage.\u00a0 Dryden Hunt (4g, 1a) topped the Tigers with five points.<\/p>\n

    2010:<\/strong> CGY 4 MH 2 Rd2<\/u>: Kris Foucault (5g, 3a) powered the Hitmen with eight points including the series winner in overtime.\u00a0 Joel Broda (5g, 1a), Tyler Shattock (3g, 3a) and Brandon Kozun (2g, 4a) all had six points each with Martin Jones posting a 2.17 goals against average.<\/p>\n

    2007:<\/strong> MH 4 CGY 1 Rd3<\/u>: Darren Helm (2g, 5a) led the Tigers with seven points.\u00a0 Derek Dorsett (4g, 2a) was next with six while Matt Keetley had a 1.78 goals against average.\u00a0 Alex Plante (2g, 2a) led the Hitmen with four points.\u00a0 Robin Figren (2g, 1a), Dan Mercer (2g, 1a) and Dylan Yeo (1g, 2a) all tallied three.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen were in Medicine Hat for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal, where the Tigers took a 2-0 series lead with a 4-3 victory.<\/p>\n

    Calgary struck early, with Caine Wilke opening the scoring for his first goal of the playoffs. Just five minutes later, Keaton Jundt capitalized on a breakaway to make it 2-0. Medicine Hat responded quickly, with Kadon McCann netting his first of the game. Ethan Moore then restored Calgary\u2019s two goal lead, scoring his seventh of the postseason.<\/p>\n

    The second period belonged to Medicine Hat, who evened the score with goals from Kaden Stengrim and Jonas Woo. Early in the third, Josh Van Mulligan found the back of the net to give the Tigers their first lead of the night. They held would hold on the rest of the way to secure the 4-3 win.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen opened the Eastern Conference semifinal in Medicine Hat on Friday night. Despite a late equalizer to force overtime, Calgary fell 3-22 in extra time.<\/p>\n

    Medicine Hat opened the scoring late in the second period, with Kade Stengrim finding the back of the net. Calgary responded quickly, less than a minute later, with Kale Dach tipping in a shot from Hunter Aura to tie the game heading into the third.<\/p>\n

    The home side regained the lead early in the final frame, with Bryce Pickford scoring on the power play just 1:41 in. At the 11:39 mark, Ethan Moore netted his sixth goal of the playoffs to even things up and send the game to overtime.<\/p>\n

    With just one minute remaining in the first overtime period, Pickford struck again with his second of the night to secure the win for Medicine Hat and give them a 1\u20130 series lead. Eric Tu was solid in goal, stopping 40 shots and earning third star honours.<\/p>\n

      Virden, MB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen are officially off to Round 2 after eliminating the Brandon Wheat Kings in Game 4 of Round 1 with a 4-2 victory.<\/p>\n

      The Wheat Kings jumped out to an early lead, going up 2-0 in the first period on goals from Grayson Burzynski and Chase Surkan. Calgary began their comeback in the second period, with Kale Dach scoring his second of the playoffs to cut the deficit to 2-1 heading into the third.<\/p>\n

      With just over 10 minutes remaining in the final frame, Harrison Lodewyk netted his first of the playoffs to tie the game. Ethan Moore then scored off the rush at the 11:48 mark to give Calgary the lead. Julien Maze added an empty-net goal in the closing minutes to seal the 4-2 win.<\/p>\n

      Moore\u2019s goal stood as his fourth consecutive game-winning goal. He scored overtime winners in Games 1 and 2, followed by the game-winner in Game 3. In the internet era, no player has recorded four straight game-winning goals in the WHL playoffs; the most recent close mark was Morgan Geekie, who had three consecutive in 2018.<\/p>\n

      Eric Tu was stellar in net, winning all four of his playoff starts and finishing the series with a 1.63 goals-against average and a .945 save percentage.<\/p>\n

      Virden, MB\u00a0\u2013<\/b>\u00a0The Calgary Hitmen were in Virden, Manitoba for Game 3 of their first-round series, earning a 3-1 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings and pushing them to the brink of elimination.<\/p>\n

      Andrei Molgachev opened the scoring late in the first period, giving Calgary the early lead heading into the second. The game remained scoreless through most of the middle frame until the final six minutes. After a spectacular breakaway save by Eric Tu, play quickly transitioned the other way, where Calgary capitalized with Ethan Moore scoring his fourth goal of the playoffs and what would be his third straight game winner. Just over a minute later, Luke Mistelbacher responded to pull the Wheat Kings within one.<\/p>\n

      The third period was tightly contested and nearly scoreless. With Filip Ruzicka on the bench for the extra attacker, Landon Amrhein found the empty net and sealed the win for Calgary. Calgary outshot Brandon 51-36, with Eric Tu making 35 saves.<\/p>\n

      Calgary, AB\u00a0\u2013<\/strong> The Calgary Hitmen took a 2-0 series lead over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Sunday night with their second consecutive overtime win.<\/p>\n

      Calgary opened the scoring in the first period with goals from Kale Dach and Andrei Molgachev to take an early lead. Brandon responded in the second period, shifting momentum with goals from Jimmy Eagan and Grayson Burzynski to tie the game at two.<\/p>\n

      Julien Maze restored Calgary\u2019s lead after exiting the penalty box and converting on a stretch pass from Axel Hurtig. However, Brandon surged ahead in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals, two from Luke Mistelbacher and one from Jaxson Jacobson, to make it 53.<\/p>\n

      Calgary answered on the power play at 12:53, when Ethan Moore capitalized to bring the Hitmen within one. Then, with 1:11 remaining in regulation, Axel Hurtig tipped in a shot from Julien Maze to tie the game and force overtime.<\/p>\n

      In the extra frame, Ethan Moore played hero for the second straight game, scoring the overtime winner at the 10:05 mark.<\/p>\n

      Julien Maze earned first star honors with an incredible six-point performance (1G, 5A), tying Pavel Brendl\u2019s franchise record for most points in a playoff game, set during the 1998-99 season.<\/p>\n
