Hitmen Split First Weekend of Preseason
The Calgary Hitmen opened up their four-game preseason this weekend beginning with a Friday night match up with Red Deer Rebels at Siksika Deerfoot Sportsplex. Despite carrying the lead on multiple occasions, the Hitmen ultimately fell to the Rebels 4-3 in overtime. Goals were seen from Wyatt Pisarczyk, Ben Kindel, Keets Fawcett and Maxim Muranov. The team then headed on the road to face the Edmonton Oil Kings at the Enoch Recreation Centre in Enoch, AB on Saturday night. The result was in favour of Calgary this time with a 4-3 win over the Oil Kings. Carson Wetsch, Brandon Gorzynski and Connor Bear would all net goals in the second, with Bear’s goal being the tying marker heading into the third. Keets Fawcett pulled out the heroics scoring his second of the preseason with under a minute left in the game to win it for Calgary. Fawcett now leads the team in the preseason with three points. Calgary’s next pre-season game will be held at Tsuut’ina Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Thursday, September 14th vs the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Seven Chiefs Sportsplex has been a second home for the Hitmen hosting multiple regular season games as well as the entire 2021 bubble season. The game will also host a 50/50 with proceed going to Tsuut’ina minor hockey. Game time is at 7:00 pm.
Preseason concludes with a trip to the Peavy Mart Centrium on Friday, September 15th to play the Red Deer Rebels.
All home preseason games are free and open to the public.
