RECAP: Hitmen Win Fourth in a Row in Shootout Victory over Rebels
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen extended their win streak to four games with a 4-3 shootout victory over the Red Deer Rebels Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Luc Trevors opened the scoring early, netting his first career WHL goal to give Calgary the lead. The game remained tight until the second period when Ben MacBeath capped off a beautiful passing play from Ethan Moore and Caine Wilke for his third of the season. With the assist, Moore stretched his point streak to six games.
Red Deer began to push back in the third, with Samuel Drancak cutting the deficit to 3-1. With only 34 seconds remaining in regulation, Keith McInnis converted on a breakaway to tie the game and force overtime.
After a scoreless extra frame, the game headed to Calgary’s first shootout of the season. Kale Dach opened the scoring, followed by a clutch pad save from Aidan Hesse on Ty Coupland. Andrei Molgachev added another for the Hitmen before Jaxon Fuder scored for Red Deer. Landon Amrhein sealed the win with the decisive goal to give Calgary the victory.
