RECAP: Hitmen Return to Win Column in 3-1 Over Raiders
The Calgary Hitmen bounced back from Sunday’s loss with a 3-1 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders on Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
After a quiet first period, Oliver Tulk opened the scoring at the halfway mark of the second period. Connor Hvidston extended the lead to 2-0 with his 15th of the season just over a minute left in the period. Tulk continued the momentum in the third, scoring his second goal of the night to become the first Hitmen player to reach 30 goals this season. The forward extends his point streak to nine games registering 15 points.
Prince Albert responded late with a goal from Ethan Bibeau with two minutes remaining, but the Hitmen held on for the 3-1 win. Daniel Hauser was stellar in net, making 27 saves. The victory moves Calgary closer to the top of the Eastern Conference, now just two points behind the Medicine Hat Tigers with three games in hand. Calgary’s 31 victories are their most in a single season since the 2022-23 campaign when they finished seventh in the Eastern Conference Standings with 31 wins.
Calgary is back on ‘Dome ice on Friday, Feb. 7 to host the Edmonton Oil Kings at 7:00 p.m. before wrapping up their four-game homestand on Tuesday, Feb. 11 against Lethbridge in another 7:00 p.m. start at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen then face six games in nine nights as they will tour the East Division beginning on Valentine’s Day, Friday, Feb. 14 in Saskatoon.
