RECAP: Hitmen Pick Up Point in Overtime Loss To Tigers
Calgary, AB –The Calgary Hitmen picked up a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Calgary struck first in the opening period when Andrei Molgachev finished off a 2-on-1 feed from Julien Maze to give the Hitmen an early lead. The Medicine Hat Tigers answered just past the midway point of the second period, with Noah Davidson capitalizing on the power play to even the score.
Maze restored the advantage for Calgary Hitmen five minutes later, burying his chance to make it 2-1 heading into the third. With just 3:03 remaining in regulation, Josh Van Mulligan netted the equalizer for Medicine Hat, sending the game to overtime. Defenceman Bryce Pickford completed the comeback at the 2:33 mark of OT, sealing the win for the Tigers.
Calgary remains fourth in the Eastern Conference currently holding home ice position for the playoffs and sits four points back of the Edmonton Oil Kings for third place, with a game in hand.
Calgary makes a return visit to the Gas City tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 28 for a rematch with the Tigers. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Co-op Place with fans invited to watch the game for FREE on Victory+. The Hitmen will then head to Saskatchewan for a pair of games beginning Tuesday, Mar. 3 in Moose Jaw before a Wednesday, Mar. 4 stop in Swift Current against the Broncos.
